ImHK There is some talk on the part of the older ' t llfflHj girls of forming a society for the prevention of iilMflH younger sisters growing up. The plan has been ' i'SiH tried in many individual cases but with indif- fjfljH forent success. Besides, tho many friends within the city gates there was a great gathering of friends and' relatives rela-tives from all over the middle east, and the merriest mer-riest of house parties made the rite- more pleasing pleas-ing to all. Mr. and Mrs. Hemphill have gone on a wedding trip, but they will make their home here. t g & A jolly little luncheon of the week was that given "Wednesday in honor of Mrs. Albert R. Hager of Manila at which tho hostess was Mrs. Louis B. McCornick. The Country club, where the scene was laid, was at its best and the jolly crowd of girls who were the old friends of the guest of honor made the event a notable one. & & & . Quite the prettiest affair of the week was the blue and gold luncheon given Thursday by Mrs. Walter G. Filer at her home on Brigham street. The Canton china used was enough in itself to create admiration, and everything was in keeping. The week began with the wedding day in play, but the wedding days have lasted right straight through. The record has- been stretched nigh to breaking every day, and some of the matches have been wonderful to behold, too. 5 Have you seen those felt hats? That may sound indefinite, but to any man who has seen those horrible things cocked up at one side and in front and pinned into place with two or three cheap pins, and then stuck on a head needing tho services- of a shampoo artist well they're not indefinite. t And speaking of head gear, there was a young bride at the play the other night with a dinky little cap fit for a ten year old boy pinned onto hor locks. The usher didn't notice it at all. J8 Two events a week is the schedule for the month at the County club. But the real events are unlimited these autumn days and Cupid is doing a rushing business on the links and tho tennis court. ttlr Mrs. F. E. Bascom and her small boy have returned from Michigan, where they have spent the summer. They are accompanied by Mrs. E. S. Bascom, mother of Dr. Bascom. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Savage have returned to Goldfleld. The Misses Lillian and Maud Fitch are back after spending two weeks on a ranch in Colorado. S Mrs. D. Moore Lindsay and her son Crawford are back from London. Mrs. It. H. Channing has returned from the east, where she went to accompany Miss Blanche . Burke. & & S Mr. and Mrs. William R. Kelley of Chicago, have been guests at the William Igleheart homo for the past few days. jfl Henry Peery returned from the east early In the week after a business trip of a few weeks. B & & & Mrs. Clifford R. Pearsall is back from a ten m days' stay in Butte. B ii t fl Mrs. William A. Alters has come from Los B Angeles and will probably spent the winter with B Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Terry. fl 5t fl Chancellor Day of Syracuse university, says I the man who smokes is a fool. The country long fl since arrived at the conclusion that a chancellor fl who talks too much is not only a fool, but the B kind that is preceded by a strong descriptive B word that is never used in polite society. fl |
