Show I LITTLE JOHNNY JONES. It's full of life and ginger, a 'Twill bring joy to all your homes; It's one big laughing panic, And they call it "Johnny Jones." The red letter event in Salt Lake theatricals for the coming week is undoubtedly found in the . engagement of Geo. M. Cohan's great musical play "Little Johnny Jones," which is to" be presented pre-sented at the Salt 1 theatre next Tuesday and Wednesday and YTi uSday matinee. "Little Johnny unes" comes to us with the stamp of approval of many eastern cities, where it has been presented for the past year and a half. Its strongest recommendation is the fact that it ran for six months in New York City. It is not difficult to solve the problem of "Johnny "John-ny Jones' " success. It is a fascinating play with a tangible plot, a bit melodramic at times perhaps, per-haps, but this adds spice to the performance around which Mr. Cohan has woven so delightful a web of melody that the song numbers are being be-ing whistled and sung all over the cjvilized world j at the present time. A scenic and costume investiture that compares com-pares favorably with the largest theatrical organizations or-ganizations that have left New York in recent years, will be on view when "Little Johnny Jones" is shown here. It is, however, in point of chorus, and company that ''Little Johnny Jones" excels. This is particularly true of the chorus, who are not only good to look upon, but they can really sing. |
