Show READY FOR HILL CLIMBING. Great are the preparations local auto owners and dealers are making for the hill climbing contest con-test the latter part of June, from the east end of Brigham street up over the continuation of that street through Federal Heights to the big gateway leading into Fort Douglas reservation on the east bench. The Federal Heights people are working day and night to put their portion of South Temple street in condition for the contest. Few Salt Lakers realize what is being done on the Heights these days. Those who have been up looking over the course the past few days have had a chance to see a lot of interesting interest-ing work. The installation of the waterworks system is now nearing completion. There are five streets out of seven with the piping laid. There will never be a water shortage at the Heights, for the big main that carries the water into town from Parley's and the Big Conduit is to be tapped forty feet above the city pump station, so that the Heights people get the water before it reaches city consumers. Tho twelve-inch mains are big affairs and they should do the business as to the water supply on the Heights. The big sub-division Is putting on its spring dress. The avenues and streets have long since taken shape. The sewer work is well on its way, the finest drainage system ever put in in Salt Lake is practically completed! great 15-inch pipes being used. Preparations are being made to put in a tramway from the foothills foot-hills to bring in dirt for filling the larger excavations excava-tions on the sub-division. The trees are leafing out beautifully and building operations are well under way. Dr. Peak's house is being started; Owen T Gray's home is nearing completion and Howard S. Stowe will soon start work on his new residence. resi-dence. Paving work is also to be started in a very short time. The .view from the Heights these days is the finest ever. |
