Show Nothing could present a more doleful spectacle than the average politician who hovers around Democratic headquarters. The dejection has been particularly apparent within the past few days. Every development In the campaign has been discouraging dis-couraging of late, and it looks as if the faithful untorrifled would expire from apathy unless National Na-tional Committeeman Peery in able to come to the rescue with a new augmentation of funds in the near future. The failure to make a showing on registration days, on account of lack of money and enthusiasm, has been especially discouraging discourag-ing to the party leaders. They are no longer counting on Judge Powers winning in the state, even with the assistance of tho Tribune and the American party, and many of the leaders now openly confess that hey havo little hope of even carrying the county. |
