Show CLOSES AFTER n RECORD RUN the brigham city sugar factory has just completed this seasons campaign after the most successful run in the history of the factory yi according to superintendent A C pearson the I 1 slicing of beets was completed at the close closest of last week and alter after cleaning up on what syrup Is left in the tanks the big mill will shut down and remain cold until the opening ot of the next campaign about nine months hence during the shutdown shut down period the plant will bo be overhauled and all necessary repairs and replacements made the local factory began operations october ath last year and has been in operation since that time a period of eighty eight days during this most splendid run about bags ot of sugar have hate been manufactured the average tons ol of beets sliced per day was 1130 tons the highest tonnage tor for a single day being 1253 tons supt bupt pearson is high in in his praise of the men employed at the plant and attributes the remarkable record made this year to their loyalty efficiency and faithfulness to duty auty the plant has employed men during the campaign aside from the office men and field forces who have been working on an 8 hour flay day basis the large laige lai ge output at the local factory was greater than the storage room hence over halt half of the sugar produced this year has been sold and shipped out yet there are something like bags of sugar neatly packed away in the storage room the entire output being ot of the highest quality again this year tor for the fourth bourth successive time the brigham factory has won the bronze tro trophy phy given by the utah idaho sugar company for the factory making the most successful run accord according to the capacity of the plant thia 6 places i the local factory on the highest ope operating rating standard of 0 all the factories owned and operated by the utah idaho sugar company in utah and idaho a record of which the officers and employees of the local sugar factory may justly feel proud orson A christensen Chrls field superintendent reports that tons of oe leets beets were purchased by the local factory during the season tons being grown in the brigham district 1100 tons were shipped in from west joraand jordan and the balance came from the garland district the shipping in of beets was made necessary on account of the stormy weather at the opening of the campaign which prevented the farmers from digging and delivering a sufficient clent amount of beets to keep the factory in operation tons of beets were sliced at the factory this season the difference between this figure and tons which wag wa bought by r the factory being lost in shrinkage hauling and in other ways the average yield of beets this year in the brigham district was two tons per acre above that of any previous year itis it Is said bald with the splendid arico received by the farmers for last years crop and the bright outlook tor for an equal or better price tor for this seasons beets there Is a spirit of op timise among the beet farmers ot of this section there Is every reason to believe that a larger beet acreage will be planted in the BrI brigham ghala district this coming spring than ever before the byproduct by product ot of the beets in the shape ot of beet pulp was something enormous yet the local factory has found a ready market for its pulp ana the demand Is increasing rapidly now that the stock feeding season Is on over 70 cars of 50 tons each have been shipped the farmers ot of cache county and many cars bars have been shipped into weber county courtr besides the local consumption the demand tor for beet pulp in cache and weber counties Is evidence ot of the high esteem in which this product Is held by dairymen of these section sas a beneficial and profitable teed feed for dairy cows they have to pay from to more per ton than the pulp can be had at the factory here the additional cost being due to transportation thee facts should be an incentive to all dairymen who are arc not feeding beet pulp to take advantage of the opportunity provided in this cheap yet profitable food tor for dairy cattle c |
