Show MRS ya EMMA WE DIES SUDDENLY mrs emma yearsley vance widow of the late joseph angus vance nance r was stricken suddenly friday afternoon and died while being taken to a local hospital the cause ot of death was heart failure mrs vance entered th 0 parans tin shop at about 0 clock apparently very ill and collapsed just after entering the building she was assisted to a chair by mr air parson who called miss alta anderson from the anderson produce store next door As the two were doing all in their power to aid the sick lady city marshal john H burt came along and with the assistance of john M burt she was placed 1 in a an automobile and taken to the hospital mrs vance was born in ogden june 5 1868 the daughter ol of nathan and ruthinda stewart yearsley she removed with her parents to promontory when 12 years ot of age soon after a branch church was organized there and she became active in church work holding the positions of sunday school teacher and secretary A district school was opened at that place and mrs vance was engaged as the instructor tor acting in this capacity for two years this being in her and year several years later the family removed to brigham city where she resided at the time of her death on june 4 1890 1800 she married joseph A vance then principal of the box elder stake academy mrs vance was a member of the stake presidency of the Y L M I 1 A tor for ten years a member of the stake presidency ot of re ilef society tor for a number of years and superintendent of oe the religion class ot of the third ward she was also a member of 0 the tabernacle choir and a zealous church worker and a true latter day saint surviving are the following sons and daughters nathan A vance ot of penrose david vance who Is at present working in the temple on the hawaiian islands stewart V vance of 0 blackfoot Black toot idaho miss bertha vance who Is IB teaching school at boothe valley john wesley and lorenzo W yance of 0 this city she Is also survived by a number ot of grand children and brothers and sisters funeral services were were held yesterday afternoon at at the third ward chapel under the direction ot of bishop 11 W valentine the attendance was large and there was a wealth of 0 floral tributes the services opened by the choir singing sister thou wast mild and lovely invocation was offered by P W fishburn followed by the duet sometime well understand by mrs may E hoopes and mrs edith mann the speakers were david P burt ada jeppson thomas C young C H skidmore bishop cummings ot of salt lake city mrs ella B D valentine pros pres S norman lee bishop H wi valentine the musical program included the solo 1 I I 1 know ow my heavenly father knows by 11 D Won inden a solo sola 0 my father by daisy madsen the closing hymn the lord Is my shepherd was rendered by the choir and benediction offered by pres wm win C horsley interment took place at the city cemetery J frank bowring bown ng dedicating the grave arave |
