Show AND ANANIAS WAS KILLED FOR LYING. The News says that one party here is trying to defeat the bringing in of Cottonwood water. The good book tells of a man who said: "In my wrath I have said that all men are liars." The News should paraphrase that and make it read: "I have said in my wrath, and sometimes when not wrathy, that the easiest way out of a troublesome trouble-some dilema is lying in a way that would have paralyzed Ananias." No one has opposed the bringing in of Cottonwood Cot-tonwood water. The plea from the first has been, do not make any mistake. Decide upon a plan, then submit it to the strong business men of the city, then be sure of your preliminaries, especially especial-ly that the old titles be all provided against, then go ahead. What is the result? No enlightened plan was mapped out, the most important titles were not secured; no provision made against suits from water companies and farmers, and now a mighty contingent of the money has been exhausted ex-hausted in a way never contemplated. The only fight has been upon the imbecility and corruption which have seemed to rule from the first. |
