Show FOR GOVERNOR. Republicans generally should bo consulting wUh each other upon a candidate for Governor The streets are filled with rumors that a combine has been made to nominate a certain gentleman for that position. If this is true, and the programme pro-gramme Is carried out, then should the Democrats nominate a really eminent citizen, the result would be such indifference among Republicans as to seriously jeopardize thier ticket, unless the old rule Is adopted and the rank and file are ordered or-dered to vote a certain way. Governor Wells has made a good Governor. If he is to be retired, then some one who could fill the office with wisdom and dignity should be named. The way to acoomplish this is for the Republicans in each ward in the cities cit-ies and in each township in the country to quietly organize and determine upon a candidate worthv the office and the State. The danger is in wait ing until the combine does its work. |
