Show TOM KEARNS' PARTY. U. S. Senator Tom Kearns of Utah seems to be an ungrateful cuss. It has been very generally a leged that the Mormon Church elected him to the United States Senate and that be bought the Salt Lake Tribune and fired Judge Goodwin as a part of the deal. In those days the Tribune supported Smoot heartily, but since then Smoot and Kearns have quarreled, because Smoot didn't fall in with Kearns' ambition to succeed himself, and now Mr. Kearns and his Tribune are organizing an anti-Mormon anti-Mormon party with which to flght Smoot. Tom Kearns s surely ungrateful. If the Mormon chur h sent him to the Senate once, he should return thanks and not howl because he can't go again. Men like Kearns don't often go to the U. S. Senate, even once. Pocatello (Ida.) Tribune, September 10. 1904. |
