And speaking of dinners, they have B til llfl been the honored guests at a round of them in San Francisco, given by Mrs. Miner, Mrs. Burns Macdonald,, Mrs. Clement, and other friends. tx w fc Colonel and Mrs. Holmes entertained at a beautiful beau-tiful dinner on Thursday evening, and they have invitations out for "a farewell reception to be given in honor of the "Officers and Ladies of the Twelfth." This will take place a week from Tuesday, and as it is the largest affair immediately immediate-ly preceding Lent, the season will end in a blaze of glory. It is rumored that the reception will be the largest event of the winter. 5 w Mrs. J. W. Beatie, of Boise, has been the recipient recip-ient of any number of entertainments given in her honor during the past week. Chief among these was the luncheon of Mrs. Ellsworth Daggett on Wednesday at which covers were laid for thirty the arrangement of the table decorations was in keeping with the artistic home of the Daggets, and the' affair was most delightful. Mrs. Beatie is the guest of Mrs. and Miss Woodward. w 5 (5 The Ferry twins, Mabel and Kate, were not in evidence at the Holden dance, and it is understood that Mrs. Ferry means to keep them at home this winter. It would seem, however, that in as much as they are accepting flowers from young gentlemen, gen-tlemen, they should be eligible for cotillions. t: v Isn't it humorous to hear that vicious little cat talk every week or two about who should and shouldn't be in society, judging people from their previous conditions of servitude, when her own sweet girlhood was as spotted as a juvenile leopard? leop-ard? &v t5 By Order of the Engineering Society. Daffodils and ferns gave the rooms a most cheerful spring like appearance, appear-ance, and the function was full of discussion of a certain wedding to take place in March. 5 t5 i The wedding of Miss Noble and Mr. Robinson on Tuesday, will be a quiet home affair, witnessed only by relatives and most intimate friends. Mrs. John Woodward and Miss Judge gave a beautiful luncheon on Thursday in honor of Miss Noble. & tje Mrs. Dick Gray was hostess at a sixty-three party on Wednesday evening, about twenty guests being present. t S The annual meeting of the Country Club was held on Tuesday, called to order at 4 p. m., and adjourned ad-journed at 4:05. The old board was re-elected unanimously, and to the gratification of those present, pres-ent, it was announced that J:he minutes of the last meeting had been burned in the Atlas fire, so could not be read. |
