Show Town Talk, of San Francisco, discussing the Los Angeles Conference of Presbyterians and their attitude toward Mormonism, in the course of a most sensible article in the main, makes a little blunder which should not be repeated. Speaking of the Saints it says: "At all events the court calendars of that state (Utah) have never been clogged by divorce suits, suits for maintenence and other proceedings growing out ot the sort of plural marriages acknowledged else-v where in the United States." We are not sure what our contemporary means by the "plural marriages acknowledged elsewhere in the United States," but in Utah plural marriages mar-riages are not recognized by the laws, and a poly-gamist poly-gamist wife naturally does not wish to be told by a judge that she is ndt a wife at all and hSs no standing in court. |
