Show H SHOULD DECIDE THE QUESTION. HH Two statements of fact ought to be enough HI to determine every working man in this inter- Hl mountain region now to vote at the coming elec- HB tion. Qna is that within one year after the last HI Democratic administration was given power, HM tfrQTQ were 3,000,000 of wage earners in the HK United States, honest men who only asked the privilege of working, thrown out of employment. At the present time there are 5,300,000 wage earners at work in our country at more generous wages than are paid for the same character of work in any other country on earth. Indeed they are receiving 100 per cent better wages than are paid to the most favored in any other land on earth. But one more fact may be stated. The diffei-ence diffei-ence in the above showing is made by the different differ-ent be iefs. The Democrats believe in a tariff for revenue only, the Republicans in a protective tariff. The Democratic tariff plank in the Democratic Demo-cratic platform of twelve years ago meant pre-cissly pre-cissly what the same plank means in the same platform this year, so no voter need be deceived. There is something more to this business. Judge Powers, Ex-Senator Rawlins, Mr. Moyle and every man whose name is on the Democratic ticket is pledged to this plank in the Democratic platform. Pledged at the first opportunity to smash the tariff on wool, on live-stock, on sugar, on lead, on almost every industry which Utah relies re-lies on for profits, on which the merchants, the traders, the professional men, the real estate mem, the banks, the State, rely upon for profits. It seems to us that every state north of Mason and Dixon's line ought to so stamp this Democratic Demo-cratic heresy in the "earth this tima that It will not lift its sinister front into view again for a generation gen-eration to come. |
