Show 1 EVASION. 1 I In the Senate debate on Monday Mr. Rawlins 1 B is reported as saying: B "Certain elements in the Church by reason of - B long habit, are disposed to yield to the dictates B of prominent individuals in the church. It is not B to be denied that their influence is very consid-B consid-B erable, but there is still a large element among B the Mormons who resent the idea of such inter-B inter-B ference." B Does Senator Rawlins think that a fair state-B state-B ment to have go out to the country? What proof can he supply that this "large element" exists? Where has he seen it manifested? Again, how did this "habit" of obedience originate? orig-inate? Does he know any Mormon who has not bound himself to obey by every obligation possible? pos-sible? Does not membership in the Mormon church rest, first of all, on this obedience? Does Mr. Rawlins know any Mormon who could refuse to obey an order from the head of the church and still hold his membership in the organization? |
