Show CLUB HOLDS ITS OPENING addresses were given give n by james E halverson and adam S bennion the fall and winter activities ot of the box elder commercial club and chamber of commerce opened list last night with a luncheon and program given ai at the ithe club rooms in this city president james E halverson called the meeting to order at 8 and harry B caldwell dh chairman airman of 0 the program committee was master of 0 ceremonies in a short address mr fr halverson encouraged a greater cooperation among business men ot of the tha city and stressed the importance of 0 specializing in norderto order to compete with the business houses ot of larger cities he told of 0 a town in the east where merchants had become suspicious of 0 each others lines until one could buy almost anything at each of the stores while neither cherof of them had a decent stock in any line he felt sure that if the business men would get together agree on certain lines and make these lines complete and up to date com competition petitt 0 0 of f nearby near by larger cities would be less inviting adam S bennion ot of salt lake lahe city superintendent of 0 the church schools also gadea gave a short address his time being limited as he had to catch an early train tor for the city mr bennion said a town Is what you make it providing it has three requisites location transportation por tation and the right kind of people he paid a tribute ito brigham city with its many natural advantages and said there la is something about it that draws people and attracts unusual attention he stressed the importance of 0 the spirit of a community that leads to greater progress it if you feel right begin to think right and manifest an interest in one another and in the community good catch this spirit he said and nothing can retard your progress in speaking of the commercial club he be said mid this is the laboratory in which you will work out I 1 the solution tor for a greater brigham the musical program consisted of selections by norman lV watkins atkins orchestra selections by a quartet composed ot of frank orville lund carl Seder hohn and carl Fresch knecht and community singing following the program a buffet luncheon was served |
