Show I Mining JSfote. Charles I. Rader, general manager for the Annie An-nie Laurie, Is up from the mine this week and has made the final payment that makes the Annie Laurie company the sole owner of the valuable Blue Bird group. The sum paid was ?92,000,while . the total cost was approximately $240,000. At present the Annie Laurie is making connections with the rich ore bodies, from its own workings and it will be only a short time before mining at a great depth from that side of the hill begins. This transaction makes the Annie Laurie unquestionably unques-tionably one of the richest mines in the state. James T. Kescel,. superintendent of the Sheba company's property in Humboldt county, Nevada, Ne-vada, came over from that camp a few days ago and went up to Park City, where he will spend a few days with his family. Mr. Kescel expects to ' engage a couple of good machine men to operate the Burleigh drills in the Sheba mine. & & & In speaking of the mine Mr. Kescel said that he had no doubt but that the Sheba would make a very rich mine and as soon as they get the old workings drained he felt confident that ore would be exposed in quantities that would run anywhere from ?800 to $1,000 per ton. The last of the material ma-terial for the mill has already arrived on the ground and he expects to have the plant in commission com-mission by the first of June. tV tV 4V The J. I. C. company have had a large force of mon shoveling out the road from the Daly-Judge to their property and have the task about completed. com-pleted. In some places along the road the snow is over twenty feet high. Teams are now able to go as far as that property, but there is still deep snow on Bonanza Flat that will take a couple of weeks to thaw before teams will be able to drive through to the Wolverine, Southern Tier and other oth-er properties in the Snake Creek district. & & & As Superintendent HIckey had promised, there was nothing about the new Comstock mill that had to be changed after the start was made, and all those who visited the plant last Sunday were very much gratified with the showing. The shaft will be sent down to the 600-foot level and the management expects that ore bodies at that depth will be opened by the end of the year. 5 t t5 ; An important strike was made in the Johnny at Statellne last Sunday. Ore was encountered which showed $500 to the ton in gold and twelve I ounces of silver. It is believed that the vein is about twelve feet in width. i t v5 , Things begin to look very promising down at the Star Con. and as a result the stock has 1 taken an upward move. The new ore body en countered on the 300-foot level, and the indications indica-tions are that the body will produce a very large quantity of ore. The news was an agreeable t surprise, and if the ore body is all that is indicated, indicat-ed, the company will soon be able to lift the debt that has held it back, and placed the much abused Star on a renumerative basis. x & & & The milling plant at the Bamberger-De Lamar gold mines will be in operation at an early date. A carload of belting, the only remaining equipment equip-ment needed to start the mill, arrived last Monday, and everything will be moving at full swing in a few days. t J? At the South Swansea, the 800-foot station has Ijeen reached, and the showing is satisfactory. Water has interferred with operations, but work in the shaft will be resumed in a few days. |
