Show ALL GLAD. The joy over the sitting down upon Mr. Sheets by the Supreme Court was not confined to the obstreperous ob-streperous obstructionists in the City Council, to the Deseret News, the heads of the church, and tile waiting slaves. There was not a thief, burglar, bur-glar, hold-up, adventuress or sport between Sacramento Sac-ramento and Omaha, but held a praise service and drank the health of the Supreme Court; all felt a feeling of relief that the old bungling methods wore to be returned to in Salt Lake City. If good Saints are rejoicing that their prayers have been answered, so are the thugs. Only law-abiding, peace loving people are disappointed, and they are but a petty minority at best. What's the sense of being concerned abol't them? By the above, we are not criticizing the decision in the least, but it is a good time -to recall the fact that all winter long the Legislature was in session in Salt Lake, that the members were fully aware that the majority of the City Council of Salt Lake City was made of material entirely unfit for and incompetent to handle the business of the city, but it refused all redress to a city that pays two-thirds two-thirds of the taxes of the state; it refused that redress because it was not asked for by the head of the Dominant Church. It is all a notice to the people of the city, especially the Gentiles, that the time has come to assert themselves, or to lie down and take their medicine. The next city of' fleers should be all Gentiles or all Mormons. |
