Show Mining JSfotes. A strike of considerable magnitude is reported from the tunnel level of the Newhouse Mines company's Cactus property. At a distance of some 147 feet from the shaft ore was encoun-i encoun-i tered that is identical with the ores in the de- veloped portion of the mine. Manager Johnson says that the drift has apparently skirted the northerly end of it and had it been eight or ten I feet farther away they might have missed it al together. Whether it is a parallel ledge or a parallel chute from the original vein has not yet been determined. It has been cut through for a distance of forty feet and as soon as the drift has been extended a sufficient distance beyond it, a level will be put through it along its strike to the southwest for the purpose of determining its length. ,? At the delinquent sale of Martha Washington only about 5,000 shares were reported as not hav- ing paid the assessment and about 2,000 shares were sold to square the account, the average price paid being about three and a half cents per i share. A raise is now being made at the mine from the main Martha drift in three feet of oxidized oxi-dized silver ore that is averaging about fifty-two ounces. The rock is said to be similar to that which made the Martha and Sunbeam properties so much money in the early days. Two cars were shipped this week and the company expects to ship two more next. & Some very encouraging reports are coming from Superintendent Work of the Hann'apah company's com-pany's properties, eighteen miles east of Tonopah. In a letter to Manager Bettles he reports among other things that the flow of water in the mine had increased to 4,000 gallons daily. In that B country water is very scarce and is hailed with H almost as much satisfaction as ore would be. Man- H ager Bettles says a boiler and pumping plant will be provided at once. The shaft is now down H to a depth of 250 feet and developments on that H level as well as oa the 150-foot level are very en-B en-B couraging. m & & & m The contract for the machinery and'equip- H ment for the new concentrating mill that is to Hj be erected by the Kearns-Keith company at Park K City has been awarded to the Mine & Smelter H Supply company. The material is to be deliv- Hj ered within sixty days and soon after that it is B expected the plant will be in operation. The m work of laying the foundations for the walls and m heavy machinery has already commenced and B building material is now on the ground. The H mill will have a capacity of between fifty and H one hundred tons per day, but will be construct- H ed in such a way that its capacity can be in- H creased on short notice. The company's property H is being developed through the Hanauer tunnel H and it is understood that some fine bodies of mill- B ing, as well as some first class ore have been B opened up. A strike of considerable importance to those working south of Park City was made in the Bo-B Bo-B nanza Consolidated company's property during the week. For several months past this ground has been operated under a lease and bond held by I A. V. Taylor of this city and some eastern opera- tors who "are interested with him. He brought I down some samples of the ore that will run pret-n pret-n ty high in-silver and carry a large percentage of S lead and when he left the mine the face of the Mt drift was full of it, but nothing concerning the B width of the vein was known. The property lies IB directly south of the Lucky Bill, Little Bell and i 5 Daly-West properties. The tunnel which tapped ' the vein is in a distance of 800 feetr the point of contact being 400 feet verticaly beneath the surface. The ledge has a northeasterly and southwesterly course and its dip is to the northwest. north-west. The tunnel was driven from the east side of Lone hill and enters the vein through the line hanging wall formation. |
