Show THE CAUSE. It is being told the Saints by their press and their teachers that another wave of persecution of their people has been awakened by their enemies en-emies and is now sweeping over the country. We ask the Saints the rank and file not to lose their heads but to reflect upon the reasons for the present agitation. They will see that It Is due to just two causes. They know that statehood state-hood for Utah was secured on the solemn pledges of the then Pi esident of the Church and the whole quorum of Apostles that (1) polygamy should cease, and (2) that there should be no more interference in-terference with the politics of the Mormcn people. peo-ple. Everyone of them knows whether these pledges have been kept or not. If they have, then this agitation is all wrong. It they have not, then they can perfectly judge whether the agitation Is wrong or whether it is but a natural expression of an indignant and betrayed government and people |
