Show H The latest politician to be seized upon by the EB Tribune as a victim of tho ill winds of church in- H fluence was Judge R. N. Baslcin, whose defeat for Hh the nomination for the supreme bench is attrib- Hj uted by the bolting organ to the dissatisfaction of H the church with his decisions in the Hilton-Park H and Riddles cases. The Tribune's information on H x this subject is a little faulty, for one of the most H ardent supporters of Judge Baskin was none other H than Apostle Charles W. Penrose. In fact the H editorial apostle created great consternation among H a group of C. S. Varian's supporters just before H the convention by announcing that "it would never H do to allow this man Varian to be nominated." Ap- H P''tly the Tribune can only see "apostolic in- H p 3a when it is being operated by one lofty H itttoi- from Provo. |
