Show By Marva Fletcher 679-8521 What a beautiful series of storms, both rain and snow, we have been receiving! Another thing we can appreciate is that when the snow comes in February, it doesn't lay on' the . ground as long as December snow does. Everyone looks happier and more relieved now than before it started to storm. We are so grateful for it. Rita Hammer called Phyllis. Beard on Wednesday morning and got the latest report I have heard on Mel Beard's progress ; toward recovery. Phyllis said ; they get him up to sit in the chair ' sometimes and he is off the res-; res-; pirator, but still has to have restraints on his hands to keep him from disconnecting the '. tubes. He suffered a stroke fol-! fol-! lowing the surgery but is now ; gaining a little each day toward his recovery. He is in the LDS Hospital' and Phyllis did not know'how much longer he will be there. We all hope and pray for a fast recovery. Evelyn Heaton's daughter, Kay Shakespear came and took her mother to Kanab to visit a sister-in-law, Iris Masterson, who is confined to a nursing home. They also visited Evelyn's sons, Larry Heaton and family in Orderville and Donald Heaton and family of Kanab. Bea Reynolds was visited by her son, Nick Reynolds and his wife, Jewell and also by a grandson, Jameson Choate, all of Panguitch. Bonnie Willis had family members visiting her this week including Quinn and Georgia Willis and daughter, Christine of Torfey; Steve and Trista Blackburn and children, Rachel and Hunter and Alisha Willis of Clearfield and Troy and Holly Willis and son, Ethan of Cedar City. They spent the weekend with her. Bonnie is having a painful time with sciatic nerve problems. Sunday night, the LDS Young Women of the Cannonville Ward held their "New Beginnings" program. Sandy Johnson was the guest speaker and the parents were invited. It was a special evening. Sunday was also special for two other events. The little son of Jason and Kaylena Lagasse was blessed by his father and given the name of Jeron. Many visitors to Cannonville LDS Ward came for the blessing of the baby and the missionary talk of Marshall Thompson. The chapel seats were pretty well "filled with friends and family members. The youth speaker was Indra Turner and she was followed by Thompson, who gave a talk on The Power of Prayer. He and his sister, Rosa Lee, sang a beautiful song. The concluding speaker was High Council representative, Layne LeFevre. A family dinner was served after the meeting. Among those attending were Vernon Spencer, his son-in-law, Ed Shakespear and wife, Camille; Dixie Shakespear; and a former resident, Tammy Witt, was there with her husband from Richfield. Marshall Thompson's grandparents, grand-parents, George and Ada Thompson, of Las Vegas, Nev. were unable to attend because of health and weather problems. But father, Joe Thompson, took his three sons, Daniel, Marshall and McKay down to spend a couple of days visiting them earlier ear-lier in the week. Pete and Janey Peterson spent several days in Circleville helping help-ing to remodel Pete's mother's home and get it ready to sell. His mother, Vivian Peterson, passed away some time ago. Larry and Glenna Fletcher had their sons, Leon of Jerome, Ida. and Bryce of Provo here for the weekend. |
