Show By Mamie Talbot 676-8084 Winter is taking its last freezing freez-ing gasp with colds, flu, coughs, pneumonia, and other miseries. But we know that spring is peeking around the corner because the first birds are back. There are black birds, flocks of little ones we don't know the name of, robins, and the final proof is the first case of spring cleaning in process. Bob Smith and Jim Houston are painting the Smith home throughout. Bob says that after living in that new house for 16 years, it's time for it. Stan and Anna Pollock are thrilled at the birth of their first great-grandchild. Their granddaughter, grand-daughter, Lacy Pollock Edwards, daughter of Dandy Pollock, gave birth to a 6 pound 4 ounce boy in Beaver on Feb. 4. Dandy visited his folks on Valentines Day and it was a toss up as to who was the most proud, Dandy or Anna. She said the baby is definitely "a keeper.C Alta Orton went to Salt Lake City with daughter, Judy Mann. They were gone for a long visit with Judy's family then came back to St. George. Alta came home from there with daughter Joan. Congratulations to the Panguitch High School girls basketball team on winning the fourth consecutive state championship. champi-onship. Those who want to attend the April LDS General Conference need to contact their bishops for tickets now to have a seat reserved for one of the sessions. In the Panguitch LDS Second Ward, Charlene Dalton spoke on the importance of music in the home and other places. The most important musical instrument instru-ment is the human voice. We don't have to be talented singers, we just need to sing. Lon Dalton talked about gaining a testimony. The Daltons also sang two beautiful songs. The ward choir sang a special arrangement of "Ere You Left Your Room This Morning." Janice B. Hatch and Deborah Hatch were sustained as Relief Society teachers. Faun Guillette and Karran Harris were sustained sus-tained as Relief Society pianist and, chorister. Ruth Burr was sustained as the Primary pianist. Gwen Frandsen has retired as Bookmobile clerk. Kathy Petersen is the new clerk. Sterling and Lucille Linford Jackson are having a garage added to their new home in the southwest part of town. Many visitors attended the Panguitch LDS 4th Ward Sacrament meeting. One group came from Las Vegas to play in the snow. If they stayed, they had to wait a couple of days before a light storm got here. The missionary farewell for Skyler Dalton was well attended by relatives and friends, some of them from far away. Skyler is a son of Mike and Christine Farnsworth Dalton. He will go to Chicago. Speakers were Christine, brothers Jason and Devin, Grandma Ann Farnsworth, Mike and Elder Skyler Dalton. "Because I Know I Can Pray to You," was sung by Kali Moore and Than Cooper. Jean, Torie and Ashlee Orton sang "In His Arms." The Dalton family sang the closing hymn. Jason Dalton was ordained a priest. The Neal and Michelle Holman Maxwell family were welcomed into the Panguitch LDS 4th Ward. They will be here until the end of the school year. Neal works in Las Vegas. They are with Michelle's parents, par-ents, Laurel and Louise Holman. Former resident Dayne Wilcock was taken to LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City and underwent serious surgery for an aneurysm. At this writing he is still there and doing well, hoping to be home in Enoch soon. We hope soon, too. The roof is now on the Shawn Parkin house. Shawn's mother stayed with the Parkin children while the parents vacationed. Douglas and Pat Smith Ball stopped to see her parents, Bob and Juanita Smith, on their way to and from northern Utah to Phoenix. Max and Loa Sevy are back from their two-week trip to San Diego. Benjamin and Erinje Rains have bought the house between Mabel Harris and Mamie Talbot. They are from California. The house was originally owned by Ira and Mary Jane Schow, then by the David Bridges. Those sustained to new posi- tions in the Panguitch LDS 1st Ward are Marie Liston as enrichment leader in Relief Society, LyNese Miller as Primary secretary, Connie Orton as genealogical librarian and Dale Baldwin as ward mission president. Locke Savage, son of Michael and Joann Savage was baptized by his father. Vern and Pam Robison have called as missionary guides at the LDS Handcart Memorial Monument in Wyoming. Joe Noyes, brother of Natalie Perkins and Rebecca Pierson, has been called to the Philippines Manila LDS Mission. Cairo Eric Houston, son of Eric and Tamara Houston, was given his name and a blessing by his father. His grandparents are John and Diane Houston and Dale and Elaine Baldwin. All his uncles were there to help with the blessing. Jakob Schoppe is working as the new biologist replacing Jose Noriega with the Forest Service. He and wife Natali and two-year old son, Jonah, live for now in one of the houses on the Forest Service Hill. Jakob is the grandson grand-son of Katie Thomas at our own Garfield County News and a nephew to Nancy Twitchell. They are surely excited about the first of their family moving to the area. |
