Show It's DavisHawkins in Garfield County Dell LeFevre Elected County Commissioner; Jack Soper, Pat Getting To School Board Garfield County voters elected a new commissioner and two new school board members and were behind the DavaisHawkins team in every precinct except the two Panguitch precincts where the incumbent team of LeavittWalker won out. Locally, voters faced a simple ballot, with the statewide race between incumbent Gov. Mike Leavitt running with Lt. Gov. Olene Walker challenged by Glen Davis seeking to take away the governor's seat and his running mate, Greg Hawkins topping the Republican ballot for nominatton to the November general election ballot. (See ELECTIONS on page 6-A) ELECTIONS From Front Page In Garfield County, the DavisHawkins team defeated the LeavittWalker duo 604 (56) to 482 (44). In the other statewide race between Frank Mylar and Mark L. Shurtleff for the Republican nomination nomin-ation for attorney general in November's No-vember's general election, Mylar garnered 343 (34) votes and Shurtleff 663 (66). Capturing local interest county-wide county-wide was the seat being vacated by retiring Garfield County Commission Commis-sion Chair Louise Liston. Dell LeFevre of Boulder, a former county commissioner, and roads advocate Myron Carter were facing off. When the votes were tallied Tuesday night, LeFevre claimed 627 (56) votes and Carter, 489 (44). School board elections took place in two local school districts. In Panguitch District 1, Jack Soper captured the seat with 73 votes (30), Cindy Taylor Stewart 63 (26), Wallace Dodds 61 (25), and incumbent Randi Miller 49 (20). In Panguitch District 2, Pat Oetting was elected with 99 votes (48), incumbent Earl Roe 64 (31), and Brad Reeve 44 (21). Marc McLenore in district 3 was running unchallenged and his name did not appear on the ballot for his district.
