Show Kerry and JoNeil Alvey went to Salt Lake City to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Meanwhile, Grandma Rella Alvey was being tended by her grandsons. Steve and Machele Pollock and Shawn and Crystal Mortensen attended the BYUAVyoming game in Las Vegas and sat amongst the Wyoming fans and cheered for BYU! Lucky Cox is glad to have his wife home from the hospital as he claimed he was getting dish pan hands! Brad and Yolanda Cowan were here for the weekend visiting David and Kathryn Pollock. Tammy F. Olsen brought her five children to visit with LaMar and Cheri Feltner over the weekend. She will soon be married to Lynn Scott, of Rexburg, Ida., and will double her family soon. She said she would soon be catching up with her mother in the number of children to raise! Connie Douglas and Caroline Fuga spent a few extra hours on the road getting to 29 Palms last weekend, as they missed a couple of turnoffs out of Las Vegas, however, they had a nice visit with Caroline's family. Vicki Syrett spent some time in a dental chair with the hassles of a root canal. Arthur Syrett enjoyed his trip to the Jazz game in Salt Lake City. Elaine Haas was sustained as the new instructor for Tropic LDS Ward Relief Society, monthly enrichment meetings. She replaced Margaret R. Mecham. (See TROPIC on page 3-A) TROPIC From Page 2 Sunday meetings in LDS church in Tropic were interesting. Phillips Broussard, of Houston, Texas, chose to leave for his mission (to Dominican Republic), from the Tropic Ward. Those speaking with him were not his relatives, but were "his family" as was suggested by Reba Daniels, of Houston, Tex., who both spoke and sang a musical number. Her husband, Larry Daniels, also spoke. Neil Foster and Al Foster spoke too, as well as Justin Talbot, from Panguitch. Bishop Scott Barton was the concluding speaker. Many colleges and universities took a week-long vacation, called Spring Break, and many of the college students took advantage of their time off. Shelly Shakespear went to Phoenix to visit with Jack and Linda Kozura. Her mother accompanied her on this trip as well as a trip to Logandale, Nev. to visit with her Uncle Fred. Mavis Strebble was a weekend visitor with Obie and June Shakespear. Shake-spear. Obie was glad to have his son Vance's help with the cattle roundup as well as son-in-law Warren Piatt and a friend from Enterprise. Evan Chynoweth and wife of St. George spent the weekend at Jack and Mae Chynoweths. Ella Adair has been a patient in the hospital. Also Clive Bybee spent some time there, too. He was visited by all his children. Bree and Kasey Ramsay, and Jeremy Bybee came for their sister Brittney'sjunior Prom. Kay Shakespear attended the annual Sewing Expo held in Pullayup, Wash. She was accompanied accom-panied by her colleague Lucile Proctor of Panguitch. They both came home with many new ideas. Kay also attended a 4-H Retreat held here locally, with over a hundred 4-Hers 4-Hers and leaders throughout the state. The annual Pack Trip for the male gender in the Bryce Valley area started today and if you cowboys forgot about it, head on down to the lower country in your truck, Friday evening for a tasty meal! Soon the cub and boy scouts will be handing out food bags for the annual food drive. Please be aware of this commendable activity as it is your chance to serve those in need. |
