She was born May 4, 1911, to William Jasper Henderson and Anne Alta Clark Henderson in Panguitch. Nelda is the eldest of six children, Boyd, Wayne (deceased), Gretha Twitchell, Rhoda Shafer and Donald. Don-ald. Nelda graduated from Holy Cross School of Nursing and spent many years providing service as a nurse in Garfield County. She married Ivan B. Willis in the Manti LDS Temple on November Novem-ber 8, 1934. They are the parents of five children: Maureen Dean, Elwood, Blaine, Garna Mclnelly and Lowell; 18 grandchildren and 37 greatgrandchildren. great-grandchildren. Nelda enjoyed her years in Esca-lante Esca-lante serving the community as a nurse. She has been active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day Saints and served as a ward and stake Relief Society president, Relief Re-lief Society teacher and in various other callings. She is also well known for her pie and bread baking. She and Ivan enjoyed living in Garfield Gar-field County and spent much of their free time fishing and camping. After 62 years of marriage Ivan passed away in January 1997. Nelda currently resides at the Curtis Residential Resi-dential Home in Glenwood. Her family honored her at a gathering in Glenwood last Saturday. |
