Show Rough Week For County Teams By John Yardley The Bryce Valley Girls team was the only winner among Garfield County teams this past week. BV knocked off Piute 47-21 in an easy win. The Mustangs led 25-7 at the half as the game was never in question. Jenne Comp scored 15 and Christina Cantu 10 to send the T-Birds to another loss. Panguitch girls caught a hot shooting Wayne team and lost 38-35. Wayne hit 7 three pointers point-ers to hold on to an upset victory victo-ry on the PHS hardwood. The teams are now tied for first in league play. In boys ball, Escalante had a heart-breaking loss 80-79 as Wayne's Bruce Johnson hit the winning hoop. Great balanced team scoring almost put the Moquis over the top. Flint Chynowlth nailed 4 threes on his way to 16 points to lead the way. Shane Shakespear scored 13, Cade Christensen 12, Chad Cottam 12, Devin Shakespear 10 and Rhett Butler 9. Bryce Valley's Boys lost in double overtime to Milford 78-69 78-69 in a ' hard loss for the Mustangs. Tye Ramsay pumped in 22, David Mathews 19 and Levi Lefevre 15. Valley blew by BV 79-61 to stretch their league lead. Mathews went for 19, Lefevre 16 and Ramsay scored 13 in this one. Valley dumped Panguitch 71-47 in Orderville. Jason Dalton hit 20 and Casey Christensen 1 1 for PHS. The Buffs now lead the league by two games. |
