Show Veterans Memorial Planned For Escalante ESCALANTE - Interested citizens of Escalante and Boulder are encouraged to meet with a committee formed recently recent-ly under the leadership of Jerry Roundy to erect a Veterans Memorial at the Heritage Park in Escalante. It will commemorate the men and women who were drafted or enlisted while they were living in Boulder or Escalante since the beginning of World War I to the present. Representatives for both Lions Clubs in Escalante, the American Legion, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Sons of Utah Pioneers, and interested citizens have envisioned envi-sioned a memorial constructed in native stone with a large plaque listing all the names of those who have served in the military. Additionally, it is hoped that a garden area can be planted with benches, a picnic area and connecting con-necting walkway. The Escalante Main Street committee has funds earmarked for a public restroom in the park near the Kazan Clinic and it is hoped that funding can be found to tie the entire project together. , Anyone who is interested in helping to design the memorial and surrounding area is encouraged encour-aged to attend the next meeting on Thursday, Feb. 6 at 5 p.m. the Escalante City Offices when fund raising will be discussed Additional information is available from Jerry Roundy at 435-826-4542. , |
