Show Why Let Salt Lake County Make Our Decision? When I vote for a candidate I like to find someone whose values val-ues and ideas are similar to mine. With the little information informa-tion and 30-second sound bytes on television it is sometimes difficult dif-ficult to decide what a candidate is really saying. I find it much more beneficial to look at a can-. didate's voting record. On television Jim Matheson tries to sound like a middle-of-the-road candidate. His voting record shows otherwise. Some of the issues important to 'me and to many others in this area are abortion, land use, Second Amendment rights, and taxes. Jim Matheson voted for partial birth abortion, and voted not to make the tax cut permanent. He is a Democratic supporter of California Representative George Miller who will replace Jim Hansen as chairman of the Natural Resources committee if we have a Democratic Majority in Congress. Don't be fooled. John Swallow who is also running for Congress is a strong supporter of local Land Use Rights. He supports our right to keep and bear arms, and is opposed to abortion. John Swallow sponsored and worked to pass the largest tax cut in the history of the State of Utah. Where will your vote go? (See LETTERS on page 3A) Letters To The Editor From Page 2A More importantly are you going to vote? Many will not because local races were decided in the primary. If we do not vote we will let Salt Lake County decide who our next representative is. We can make a difference. Please vote. Elaine Baldwin Panguitch |
