Show By Earl Roe 676-2376 wearlroeyahoo.com Larry and Dawna Barney have returned home after visiting visit-ing with their son Kris and family fam-ily in Colorado Springs. They enjoyed getting acquainted with their new grandson. His big brother, Karston, made sure that grandma and grandpa were not bored during their visit. They managed to attend a Triple A baseball game (Sky Socks vs. Portland Beavers) and to further their education, Kris and Kristi took them to the Carnegie Library where they were able to view the original copy of the Declaration of Independence which is being taken on tour throughout our nation. Larry and Dawna felt that it was a real privilege to see this document. Norma Talbot started for Disneyland with the family of her daughter, Roma and Hal Wilcock and their children, Janalee (Cedar City) and Jim and Erica and their children, Micah and McKenna (American Fork). Norma decided that Disney Land might be too much for her so she had Roma and Hal drop her off in Las Vegas where she spent the four days visiting with her son Kenneth and his wife Ronna. Royce and Pearl Walker recently met their son, Stephen, at the California State Line to pick up two of their grandsons, Jacob and Jason to spend a couple cou-ple of weeks with them at their home at Blue Spring. A new experience for the boys (and according to them, one of the most fun) was picking up night crawlers for their fishing trips. Jacob and Jason's parents will be coming around the first of July to get the boys and to attend the Roy and Preal Veater Family reunion on the 4th and 5th of july and to spend some time visiting vis-iting with mom and dad. Vermon and Catherine Barney recently returned from Salt Lake where they attended the funeral for Dr. Ralph Tingey, husband of Catherine's sister, Margaret. Dr. Tingey's health had been failing for a long time and Catherine said that sister Margaret is not in the best of health at this time. Several former Panguitch residents res-idents were here for the funeral of Verda (Houston) Oldham. I usually do not write about funerals funer-als because the information is in the obituaries, but I am going to name the ones I got to visit with because I grew up with them. Art Houston (Class of 1940) and his brothers and sisters, Blaine, Sheriff, Cecil Dawn, and Sara Dee and their cousins Wayne Houston and his sisters, Reva, Mary and Barbara. This family had an older brother, Douglas (Class of 1940) who passed away shortly after attending our first class reunion (40th). Their family home was the first home my father built after we moved to Panguitch and I helped dad with the sub-floor, sub-floor, sheathing, and the old wooden lath. I was 1 1 years old and could really pound nails for fifty cents a day. Girls didn't mean a thing to me at this age (I did know they were different) but for some reason my friends started to tease me by shouting, "Earl Roe is Reva's beau." (I hope this does not offend Reva, but it is one of my earliest memories mem-ories of my life in Panguitch.) I also got to visit with George Cherrington whose older brother, Julian, was also a member of the Class of 1940. Those of you who come home for our 24th of July Homecoming will see some changes along main street. The new automotive business, the new shop just north of the old show house and the new facelift on the Welcome Market, now called Joe's Main Street Market, really add to our "business district". dis-trict". Our annual balloon festival is kicking into high gear and I have a ride scheduled tomorrow morning. I will have to describe it to you next week. This ride will leave me with only two other aerial frights I have not experienced, but would like to do, a sailplane and a hang glider. At my age, these should be a breeze. 1 Former residents, Kay and Ann Richards report that their son, Steve Richards recently returned from Argentina where he served a two- year mission for the LDS Church. They were in town for a couple1 of days staying in the family home on West Center Street. Kay also informed me that one of the classmates, Steve Marshall, was trying to find out about Margaret Ann Krebs, who passed away about 15 years ago. Her married name was Jones and her husband followed her in death a few years later. (This is a sad way to learn about a classmate class-mate who you wanted to notify of a coming class reunion.) Jud Farmer contacted me to let me know again about how he enjoyed reading the Garfield County 'News and especially reading the names of people he knew here in Panguitch. This is" one of the reasons you are going to see quite a few names in this article without much news attached to them. Evalyn and I spent a couple of days in Cedar City where she had to go to have her annual checkup in the new hospital. We met Louise Heywood Ott who works as a volunteer in the hospital. hos-pital. Louise gave me the names of some of our former Panguitch residents who were here for Memorial Day with whom she got to visit: Usher and Dorothy Henrie, Fern Henrie Hughes, Carol Hatch Moss, Natalie Henrie, and Nancy Beckstrom. (Sorry, but time and space won't let me hook these individuals up with older residents whom many would know.) "Drinking drivers . Enhance their chance To hiball home In an ambulance. ambu-lance.
