Show 1 1 County Communities To Celebrate Independence Day On Friday All communities in Garfield County will celebrate Independence Indepen-dence Day this year on Friday, the nationally designated day for recognition of our nation's freedom. Some activities will spill over into Saturday so visiting visit-ing family have plenty of choices choic-es of activity, patriotic programs, pro-grams, rodeos, races and games and always delicious food. ANTIMONY - A full day of celebration is set for residents beginning with the line up for the parade at 9:30 at the Rockin R Ranch. Following the parade at 10 a.m. there will be ongoing foot races, sack races, a frog sling, a "bunny chase" for kids 1 to 5 years, a "rooster chase" for kids 5 to 1 1 years, a "greased pig" chase for kids 11 to 18 years and cow pie bingo. Regular bingo will take place later in the day inside the Fire House. Lunch of BBQ beef sandwiches or hot dogs, chips, watermelon and soda will begin approximately 1 1 a.m. A magnificent mag-nificent fireworks display sponsored spon-sored by Antimony Town and the Otter Creek Marina and R.V., will cap off the day over the water at Otter Creek. The annual BBQ dinner and entertainment enter-tainment will begin the following follow-ing evening at 6 p.m. at Antimony Merc, featuring the tunes of the Coyote Town Criers. BOULDER - Residents in Escalante and Boulder combine activities for both these communities, commu-nities, celebrating the 4th of July in Boulder and the 24th of July in Escalante. The fun will kick off with a parade at 4:30 p.m. Participants can line up at 4 p.m. at the junction junc-tion of Burr Trail and Hwy. 12. There will be a program at the Town Hall at 5 p.m., followed by childrens games and dinner at 7 p.m. The dinner will boast BBQ chicken, potato salad, green salad, baked beans, drink and dessert. An evening of entertainment to the lively music of Cedar City's "Lone Hawk" is the much anticipated dance of the year. CANNONVILLE - will combine with Tropic Town once again this year for festivities. HATCH - A pancake breakfast break-fast at the park will open the celebration cel-ebration in Hatch on Friday, beginning at 7 a.m. and running until 9 a.m., sponsored by the Hatch Volunteer Fire Department. The boy scouts will present a flag ceremony at 8 a.m. followed by a patriotic parade at 10 a.m. Games, a DUP bake sale (with donations of food items always accepted) and a hot dog lunch will follow. There will be a POT LUCK meal at 6 p.m. and everyone is encouraged to bring their favorite dish. Fireworks are scheduled in Hatch, weather permitting. HENRIEVILLE - Will have their traditional town festivities on Friday beginning at 9:30 a.m. with a flag ceremony by the cub scouts at the park. The Lions Club members i will host one of their outstanding outstand-ing breakfasts from 7 - 9:30 a.m. at the Zions Bank lot. The ! parade line up will begin at 9:45 at the courthouse and parade to ,' begin at 10 a.m. A noon BBQ is , planned at the Fair building with kiddy races to follow at 2 p.m. The FFA Junior Rodeo is slat-i slat-i ed for two nights, Friday and ; Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Triple , C Arena 'with concessions, each evening.' Fireworks will follow ' at dark on Friday and a dance ,, each evening at approximately 9 ' p.m. at the fair building. TROPIC - Tropic Town has great doings planned for Friday, ; July 4. The Bryce Valley Lions ' will hold their annual breakfast . at Tropic Park, which now ', boasts new eating facilities. , Workers have completed closing " in the ceiling of the former bow- ery, put in new wiring and lights, an all new kitchen and storage area, a brand new grill, serving table and public rest-rooms. rest-rooms. So give the town workers work-ers and city council your praise and thank you as you enjoy the facilities throughout the day. A patriotic program is planned fro 10 a.m. Kids races will follow at 10:30 a.m. and booths and games immediately following the races. The town has purchased two new boothsgames this year to expand the variety being offered. They are the "Country Jamboree" a shooting game with a cross bow and velcro darts. Also a "Golf Challenge" setup for young and old alike. Golf is the all new passion in Tropic. The DUP bake sale will begin in the morning, items always happily accepted, kind of a bring and buy event. At noon a hamburgerhot dog feed will top off participants before their afternoon nap. Then the Annual Tropic Volunteer Fire Dept. 's Pit BBQ Dinner at 6 p.m. with all the excellent trimmings. |
