Show Garkane Energy Announces Election Results LOA Members of Garkane Energy Cooperative saw history ' in the making at the annual ! Membership Meeting Session ; held in Escalante, Utah, on Apr. ; 28. Election results of the mail- ; in ballot were announced during ; Annual Membership Meeting Sessions held in Big Water on Apr. 27; Escalante on Apr. 28; -and in Koosharem on Apr. 29. " Incumbent Directors LaDon ! Torgersen, Koosharem, and ; Boudicca Joseph, Big Water, ran ; unopposed and will continue to ; represent Districts 1 and 9, ; respectively. In District 4, Garkane's Legal -Counsel announced the first tie . vote in the Cooperative's histo- ' ry. Incumbent Marjie Lee Spencer received 142 votes, and Candidate Reed Munson also ; received 142 votes. According ; to the Cooperative's By-Laws, as approved April 25, 2001, "in the case of a tie Director vote, the Director elected is determined deter-mined by a drawing by lot." The . candidates selected a coin toss, with Incumbent Spencer selecting select-ing heads. The coin was tossed by Marcus Taylor, Garkane's Legal Counsel, and landed on tails. The result caused a change in board members for District 4 : with Candidate Reed Munson as the newly elected Director. Torgersen, Munson, and Joseph will each serve a three year term. ; As required by the ; Cooperative's By-Laws, Garkane Gar-kane Board Members will elect Board Officers and representatives representa-tives to Deseret Power (Garkane's .wholesale power supplier) and the Utah Rural Electric Association (statewide organization) at the first regular board meeting following the annual meeting. That meeting is scheduled for Friday, May 14, 2004 in Hatch. |
