Show Major Winter Storm Causes Scattered Power Outages LOA Garkane Energy Customers in Garfield, Wayne, and Kane Counties experienced scattered power outages Wednesday due to heavy wet snow, which blanketed the area. "We are indeed grateful for the moisture. However, heavy wet snow during winter months usually causes problems for power lines," stated Carl Albrecht, Garkane's General Manager & CEO. "The accumulation accu-mulation of snow on the lines causes protective devices to operate and create the outages, which are then closed again electronically or manually, after the snow clears from the lines." Garkane's crews were immediately imme-diately dispatched to the areas. Battling miserable conditions at times, the crews located the problems, and all customers were back on line within a short time to a few hours. "During the winter months, our crews work under extremely difficult conditions condi-tions in order to restore power to our customers", stated Albrecht. "We appreciate their efforts, and we're sorry for the inconvenience inconven-ience power outages cause." Heavy snow does bring fun and excitement to a lot of people; peo-ple; but for Garkane, heavy snow also serves as a reminder to plan ahead for the inevitable weather-related power outages. Garkane reminds its customers to choose an easily accessible closet or cupboard for an emergency emer-gency supply oF flashlights, batteries, bat-teries, and other needed items. |
