Show PMJGUITCa UGVJS By Earl Roe 676-2376 wearlroe yahoo.com Birthdays are a hot item this week. On January 14th, Rhea Dodds celebrated her 97th birthday. birth-day. Her children and their spouses took her to lunch then that evening they were joined by the grandchildren and great grandchildren for ice cream and cake at her home. The days events were organized by Rhea's great granddaughter, Teresa Hatch, daughter of Randy and Debbie Hatch. I was told that Rhea also baked a batch of bread to make the day complete. Iva Dell Yardley marked her 73rd birthday on January 2th, but celebrated it a day earlier. Her granddaughter, Michele Yardley, was celebrating her birthday the day before Saturday and Iva Dell was quizzing her as to what she was doing for her birthday and was tricked into going to Sharon Moore's home to see what was planned. When they arrived, Iva Dell found the house filled with people who had gathered to give her a surprise sur-prise birthday party. Kathy, Richard, and Ricky Carpenter, Las Vegas, Nev.; Alan and Shelley, Courtney, Michele, and Colman Yardley, Jim and Neucille Yardley, Pam Yardley, and Donna Peterson all of Panguitch. Her sisters, Sharon Moore, Panguitch; Norene Hinton, Hurricane; Thora Piatt and husband, George, Henrieville and Vanda Rae Patton of West Jordan. Her nieces and nephews, Jolene Sherman, St. George, Kenneth Piatt, Henrieville, Lee and Janice Helquis, Richfield, Norma Lee Slaymaker, West Valley, and Gladys Poindexter also of West Valley. Iva Dell said this birthday party was the biggest surprise she has ever had. With so may involved, I wonder how the secret was kept. One more birthday I had better bet-ter mention! Evalyn (my wife) 1 -celebrates (?) Her birthday today January 30th. I am now only one year older than her. For the past month I have been two ' years older. ! Wanda lived in Panguitch at one time and I believe she worked in the Welcome Market and as a fee collector at Bryce Canyon National Park. Their former home is now occupied by Steve and Janine Fellows. Earl and Lola Henrie and Maloy and Carol Dodds drove to Denver to attend a bull sale. I don't know if they purchased bulls, but I imagine a little got thrown during the trip. Art Cooper is back home after making a "round robin" trip to Denton, Tex.; Bakersfield, Calif, and back to Panguitch. The purpose of this "looning trip" (Art's words) was to visit his children and grandchildren and attend the baptism of one of the grandchildren. Panguitch Connection: From my niece, Lorraine (Davis) Henry (Winona's daughter) in San Diego, Calif. Lorraine had a friend, Christine, who thought Panguitch was the funniest name. She had never heard of it. Shortly after moving to the Washington D.C. area she called Lorraine to let her know that her visiting teacher partner was Karen Talbot (Mamie's daughter). daugh-ter). Chris could not believe she had met two people from Panguitch. A year or so later Chris wrote Lorraine to tell her of a visit to a friend in Germany where she met her friend's friend who was none other than Linda (Bardwell) Olsen. Both Karen and Linda attended school here in Panguitch. "The place to pass-On curves you know-Is only at-The beauty show." Burma Shave. |
