One has to cheer for Ryan Cottam on the Escalante team while the other cheers for Wayne Ott on the Tropic team. Then they probably change places during half time! The Richard Crawfords have had brother-in-law, David Bly, of Calgary, Cal-gary, Canada, here for a visit. David is the editor of the Calgary Herald Newspaper. He likes to visit here in winter time to ge,t away from the cold weather in Canada. Can-ada. After five surgeries in 14 months, on knees, ankles,': etc., Helen Shurtz is home for a while. Granddaughter, Mandy (daughter of Jolyn Petersen) has been here with Lavern and Mary for almost a month now. McKay and Rose Bailey recently took a trip to Nashville, Tenn. First, they went to Las Vegas, Nev. They didn't say so but they probably proba-bly visited with brother and sister-in-law Terrill and Colleen Bailey who live there. Then, they flew out of Las Vegas to Nashville, where they saw country singers Vince Gill and Lori Morgan - to name two. McKay said they were gone four days and that was three days too long! Doesn't take long for him to get homesick. At one time, Escalante was known for it's beautifully lighted main street at Christmas time. The Lions Club did a great job with the street and the big old tree on Neal Liston's corner. When they were told they could no longer string lights across main street and the big tree was blown over, the tradition slowly went down hill. It's coming back and now another committee has been formed to see if they can get a fund built up to purchase new (See ESCALANTE on page 4-A)' |
