The elementary school didn't quite get all the playground finished. One big muddy spot was left. The school district offices haven't yet got the siding on one outside wall. A new pitched roof is being put on the middle school. It will save having to fix leaks on the former flat roof and will help tie the "moved in" buildings together. to-gether. Winter weather is here. Opal Miller spent a week in Heber visiting her teen grandchildren grandchil-dren while their parents Caroline and Perry were vacationing. Phil Blais vacationed in California. Cali-fornia. Mark and Ben Bardwell were here fishing. Hazel Worthen Rich had her brothers and sisters here for the Herbert and Alice Worthen family reunion. Most of the 12 brothers and sisters were here. Frank and Cecile Houston Or-ton Or-ton were here. She has had shoulder surgery. Their grandson Franklin Worthen and new bride came to visit them and the other grandparents Vee and Adele Worthen. Arlene Hatch, wife of Art Hatch, had by-pass surgery in Salt Lake City. They are glad to have a home up on Mammoth Creek to rest in. Doug Jensen spent several days in the local hospital. Daughter Daugh-ter Catherine Anderson was here with mom Nida Mae and to see Doug. His niece and her husband came to visit with the Jensens. Sharron and Keith Moore had visits from her sister Thora and George Piatt and sister Noreen from Hurricane. Christine Houston Owens was here for a short visit with the Houstons. Donna Marshall and children Cindy, Stephanie and Duke took Leland Marshall to Salt Lake City for heart evaluation. He is improving. In 4th LDS Ward, McRay Ju-lander Ju-lander was sustained as 1st. councelor in the Sunday School. In Sacrament Meeting, Whitney Houston was the youth speaker. He is a son of the Frank Houstons. ' Elder Aaron Howard and Elder Mitch Miller talked about their missions. The choir sang "With Songs Of Praise". In 2nd LDS Ward, elder K. C. Poll and elder Aaron Howard reported their missions and Than Cooper sang a beautiful song. Robert and LyNese Miller took her mother to Salt Lake City for doctor appointments. Ly-Nese's Ly-Nese's father, Velden, has been here working on the "black topping" top-ping" of several projects. Caryl and Ray Englestead enjoyed en-joyed a visit from daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Butch of Idaho who also visited son Beau Davis in Cedar City. Dale and LuAnna Bagnell of St. George were here to visit with their families. Westley Harris, son of Bob and Mary Harris, is attending Snow College in Ephraim and his sister is attending Dixie College in St. George. Nadeen and son Brad Houston were here to check the placement of her husband Ray's grave ! marker. Nadeen moved from St. Louis to Richfield to be near two I of her sisters. J.B. and Lois Sargent from i Bear Lake stopped in town to I visit friends and relatives, then ! went on to Mammoth Creek to fish where J.B. had lived as a boy ! and where his dad had worked at I the fish Hatchery. They went on I to Cedar City to see son Reid and Patti 's baby boy and Lois's ' brother Daryl Matthews. 1 The Panguitch Stake LDS Conference last weekend was an opportunity for members from Hatch to Marysvale to enjoy seeing see-ing and visiting with each other, besides receiving instructions and encouragement from Stake leaders lead-ers and General authority Elder L. Mike and Sandy Hudson have sold their home (the former Bill Proctor home) to Marni Julander -,. and have moved in with Mike's mother who lives in the home of ; the late Ray and Celesta Miller. ;. They will stay there until Mike's broken wrists are healed and he can go back to work. Marni Julander Ju-lander is the daughter of McRay -and Jean Julander and has . promptly moved in to her home. : Her sister Jodi will live with her there. Jeannie Willis Allen's new ... home is here and being set up on ; grandpa Nolan McGuires lot. It's a shame we have so many empty houses, especially on Main Street. Most of them are nice homes of old Panguitch families. The children have moved away and left the homes unused but in good condition. Another shame is the many old useless cars and machinery in folks yards and ' parked on the streets. What does 3 one do with junk cars? Merle Stowell and Rhoana Workmen went north with Rho-ana's Rho-ana's kids to check on family members. Merle developed an ear infection and had to cut her time in the north. Both she and t Rhoana returned home. An LDS Women's Conference ' is scheduled for Nov. 14 in the stake center. Travis Clinton and his mother Cyndi Clinton were baptized members of the LDS Church last week by the full time missionaries. missionar-ies. The Clinton family lives in the former Edwin Talbot house. Beverly Crosby had knee re- placement surgery in Cedar City o Nov. 3. .p La Vera Englestead reported the death of her brother-in-law Ll Col. Alvin Kiefer, USAF Ret. ' husband of Maxine Englestead ' who was born and raised here. Alvin died Oct. 25. in Salt Lake City. Funeral services were in. Bountiful. Our love to Maxine J and family. La Vera also reported the death of her sister-in-law A-Mary A-Mary Jeanette Burgess, wife of Ruben Burgess. They had moved here from Circleville. Funeral ; services were in Circleville. La Vera's twin sister, La Vena, and family came from Arizona for the services. Many other family members also attended. We ex-tend ex-tend our condolences to Reuben ' and all the family. J There will be used book sale ,l at the City Library the same day ' as the craft fair on Nov. 14 at the Social Hall. Norma Talbot, Roma and Hal Wilcock of Cedar City and Norma Jean and Kay Bundy of ' St. George traveled to Vernal to be with Norma's daughter Louise ' and her husband Ellis Tait as they were sealed in the Beautiful Ver- , nal LDS Temple. Returning ) home, Norma, Hal and Roma , attended a concert in Price which . was conducted by Jim Wilcock. It was his choir from Pleasant Grove. Roma and Hal also went , to Hatch for the funeral of Roma Evans. |
