Show County Commission Meets PANGUITCH The Garfield County Commission met for their regular meeting on Oct. 13. Present Pres-ent were Commissioners Maloy Dodds and Clare Ramsay and Deputy Clerk Donna Guida. Board Reports A request for funding from the Tropic Volunteer Fire Department was tabled until Garfield County Clerk Camille Moore could be present to discuss the fire budget. Rubys Inn and Fosters were asking if funding is available separate from Tropic. They indi- cated to Commissioner Ramsay that such funding had been available in the past and that none has been distributed. Public Works Business County Engineer Brian Brem-ner Brem-ner had calculated that because Kelly Nielson had used his personal per-sonal vehicles and equipment for the summer's work, it would be equivalent to 40 hours. The county, coun-ty, at Nielson' s request, agreed to exchange an unused headache (See COMMISSION on Page 3A) COMMISSION From Front Page rack with a value of $150 for the time. Capitol Reef National Park Complaint Bremner received a call Oct. 5 from attorney Barbara Hjelle stating sta-ting that the Washington attorneys attor-neys had called telling her that they had been told that Garfield County road crews had been bulldozing on the Notom Road in Capitol Reef National Park and that trees had been destroyed and uprooted and the road widened by four feet over a two-mile area, etc. They request notice of any intended work. Commissioner Ramsay and Bremner had visited the site on Oct. 7 and videotaped the area and determined that, in their observation, the complaint was false and no notice was due. Upper Paria Grazers Association Letter Bremner had received a letter from the cattlemen requesting that Garfield County now accept the new Sheep Flat road section created by Shane Stubbs and assume its maintenance as it now exists. Bremner expressed concern con-cern about accepting the road in its present condition. He said the new section was not properly done and a significant amount of work still remained to be done. By accepting it, a precedent could be set for similar requests. The commissioners recommended that Bremner respond with a letter to Stubbs and the cattlemen regarding the established county procedure advising them that the road needs to be completed by Spring 1999.
