Show Pqnguitch News By Mamie Talbot 676-8084 The robins in the nearby spruce trees are busily feeding their nestling and the humming birds are looking for blossoms. The crabapple trees are in bloom. If the frost holds off for a week the sweet smelling lilacs will be blooming. The elm trees look green but only with the billions of seeds that must drop and blow over the valley before the leaves come on the trees. The town streets are being brushed to receive another coat of chips and seal. The city didn't receive the help they were looking look-ing for to put in natural gas so they will try to find other means and go on with plans. Russel Bulkley was chosen to replace Justice of the Peace Stan Foy, who is retiring. Wayne Miller was chosen as fire chief to replace Dave Dodds Who is also retiring. Don and, Martha Henrie enjoyed en-joyed having daughters Linda and ! Irma and grandchildren with them for Mothers Day. ! Jim and Evelyn Henrie are nearly moved home from Dixie. ! Cal and Marjorie Davies must be home from Arizona as their flag is ! flying and the big-gate is propped open. Melvin (Barney) and Ida ! Shannon are home from the south. Karey Klien, son of local car-! car-! penter shop owners the Randy ' Kliens, received his Gospel in ! Action award. Marilyn Bulkley and husband Russell were called to teach LDS Sunday School. The Farber family's membership records were welcomed into Panguitch Pan-guitch LDS 3rd Ward. The De-seret De-seret Industries trailer is at the Stake Center to receive donations. dona-tions. Beverly Crosby and Ardith Davis met their granddaughter and niece at the St. George LDS Temple. She is preparing to be married soon in the Mesa LDS Temple. She is Kathy Crosby Pings daughter from New Mexico. Earl Roe and Lowell Henrie were next door neighbors in a northern hospital recently where Earl had triple by-pass surgery and Lowell came out with a pace maker for his heart.. Best wishes, classmates. Don and Carol Cooper Bunker had her brother Kenneth Cooper and friend Jerry Ives of Lake-wood, Lake-wood, Colo, were here for several days. While here, fine pianist Kenneth played for folks at the Care Center. A number of people from around town who will remember re-member the Coopers went to enjoy en-joy the music. Janet Oldham talked to the LDS Home Evening group about the organization for the "Utah Main Street" program. It works toward improving and supporting the Main Streets of Utah towns. Work will be started on repairing and refinishing the Social Hall which has developed cracks. Jay and Maxine Crosby spent the weekend in Salt Lake City to attend the wedding of grandson Cody Crosby and Danielle Peterson Peter-son in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Cody is Evan Crosby's son. A lovely wedding breakfast and a reception were held for the young couple. On Sunday, the Crosbys went to Provo to the blessing of great-granddaughter Lindsey Nicole, Ni-cole, daughter of Lando and Tiffany Tif-fany Crosby Voil. Tiffany is a daughter of the Richard Crosbys, who hosted a Mother's Day dinner for the many family members there. This past week, Rose Oleson of Provo and Sara Littlefield of Tropic visited their cousin Maxine Max-ine Crosby here at home. Roberta Irish went to Lehi to spend Mother's Day with her daughters Christy Gann and April Thomas. John (we knew him as Gordon) Gor-don) and Judy Crosby of Kansas City spent some time with his brothers, the Art Crosby's and Jay Crosby's. A house is being built for the Phil Nortons on the lot next to Bergil Anderson. Phil has roots here but I don't know him yet. He is retired from the military services. serv-ices. We Nortons must meet. Cliford Norton, Panguitch native, of the Junction-Circleville area died recently. He is my cousin, son of the late John and Mae Norton. Nor-ton. Rex and Grace LeFevre Sand-berg Sand-berg are called on a two-year LDS temple mission at the St. George Temple. The Ross and Cindy Williams' family are going to Missouri to spend time with a grandmother and other family members. Panguitchites Gordon and Annette An-nette Veater Beckstrom have bought a house on Main Street, south of KOA and are moved in to stay. Royce and Pearl Veater Walker are here from California. We understand they will be here permanently in the family home, the Steve Walker home. Pearl and Annette are daughters of the late Roy and LaPreal Veater. The two DUP Camps held their closing social together at the city offices. Pat Dix told the ladies la-dies a lot about the Civil War. Studying and visiting Civil War sites is Pat's interesting hobby. The DUP Museum will open for visitors on Memorial Day, May 26. Hours are 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays. Everyone is welcome. |
