Show Panguitch Hews By Mamie Talbot 676-8084 New calves are now enjoying sunny fields for at least a few days much better than the snowy ones of last week. In their last meeting, the Panguitch City council discussed using the former Kaibab industrial site for a golf course or for a housing area. Study on the proposal is very preliminary and no decisions were made. Panguitch native Burris Davenport, Daven-port, late of Kcarns, has died was buried there. His sister Julia Davenport Johnson passed away in January. Burris is survived by his wife Myrtle whom he met in England during WWII. Burris' brothers, Ivan, Tom and Harold Davenport and sister, Vida Newby, are left of a family of 15 children born to James Burrows, his first wife Fannie Mae LeFcvre and his second wife Frances Davis. We send our love to our friend Myrtle and children and the rest of the Davenport family. Since the legislative session is over, Tom Hatch and wife Kay can relax for awhile at home. Cullen and Kay Henrie Holyoak, granddaughter Andrea Hunter and her three children, spent a day visiting Kae's mother Shirley Henrie. Cullen made sure the wood room was filled with logs for the fireplace before the visitors went back to Cedar City. Bob and Juanita Smith went north to see her very sick father Erven Sparks. After returning home, they learned of his death and were called back to Provo to attend his burial. The Smiths also visited with another Panguitch native, bob's sister Gwen Smith Johnson where they learned of the death of LaReta Jestctt, wife of home-towner home-towner Mac Jestctt. Delilah Smith is in the process of packing and preparing lo move up north to live with her daughter Elaine Thorpe. Delilah has not been well this past year. We will miss her but understand her need to live with Elaine. See Panguitch News On Page 7-A Panguitch News (From Paee 2-A) Dr. David Lee, our native dentist, den-tist, says he will be here every other week until Saturday at noon. He still lives in Orem, but comes down to help with dental work. David Bee, son of Panguitch native, na-tive, Chant and Ruth Bee, writer and professor at SUU, was named Poet Laureate for Utah by Governor Leavitt. He has taught workshops in Panguitch. His father Chant was born here and grew up here. Ann Farnsworth has had her sister sis-ter Betty Kubonick visiting recently. re-cently. Panguitch native Julia Davenport Daven-port Johnson, 81, daughter of James Burrows and Fannie Mae LeFevre Davenport died and was buried in Mt. Pleasant. She was one of 15 children. Her mother died when she was six years old. Her father married Francis Davis and had two more children. Brothers and sister still living are Burris, Ivan, Tom and Harold Davenport and Vida Newby of Kerns. Alia Orton and family enjoyed having her brother and his wife, Sam and Joyce Johnson of Ely, Nev., here for a visit. The Boy Scouts have been very busy with their Recognition Banquet, Ban-quet, their annual food drive, and Winter Camporce. One of the leaders said that the boys bravely threw their sleeping bags down on the ice and spent a happy night. Wow! What courage. Did the leaders enjoy their night? Bless them. Josh Pollock, son of Royce and Dcbra Pollock, was ordained a priest in the LDS Third Ward. Hilma Excell is home from a stay up north during the basketball tournament with son Evan Excell. She said she attended 17 games. She said it was better to sit where the action was than home trying to find something to do. Johnson construction is nearly through with the installation of the main sewer pipes connection to the individual lots still have to be done, with June 15 as the tentative date. |
