Show 1 Escqlqntc News By Marlene Haws 826-4859 With the coming of our big winter snowstorm, two feet or more, the folks with the beautiful new aluminum roofs found that even they have their drawbacks! When Deon and Arnold Alvey tried to get out of their front door on Monday morning they discovered that an avalanche had slid off their roof and they were "snowed in". Not wanting to wait for the spring thaw, Arnold had to climb out the kitchen window, into a snow bank, and shovel Deon out! Many good Samaritans were out with heavy equipment helping people peo-ple "dig out". Some I saw, just in my end of town, were Kim and Donnie Randall, Reed Munson, Vern Mclnelly and sons, town employees em-ployees Pug Ludgate and Layne Woolsey and, I'm sure there were others. Anyway, I think they all deserve a great big "thank you". And we won't even complain about the mud when the snow melts it is just what we have been needing. The McLemores, Marc and SusAnn, went to Provo to participate partici-pate in the blessing of SusAnn's nephew. The father of the baby boy is SusAnns brother, Alan Boardman, the BYU football player. Rick and Linda Crawford went to Yerington, Nev. to see Linda's parents, Rev. Milton and Mary Carr. Mil'.on has been having some health problems, but is doing better now. Judy Griffin had surgery in the Dixie Medical Center and has been convalescing at the home of her daughter, Judilyn Christensen, St. George. Lynn Griffin went to Salt Lake with son, Mike Griffin, to take Mike's son to doctors up there. Beryl Shurtz has been in the Panguitch hospital for two weeks with an infected leg. Leslie Venuti has been in Washington, Utah helping with her new granddaughter, Kendra. The little girl is the first child of Roy and Meegan Boler. DeLane and Leah Griffin are home from Mesa, Ariz, where they spent three weeks with the family of Jeff and Marilee Miller. (If Leah had been able to keep DeLane in leather for bridle making they may have stayed all winter.) They were there for the baptism of their grand son, Justin Miller, iney ran into Kim and Evelyn Lay at church one Sunday and visited with a daughter of Clark and Dora Veater, Annie, on another occasion. They came back by way of St. George and stayed with Val and Ann Haws for 3 .days. Bart and Joy Carter left on Christmas day and went to Taylor, Ariz, where they visited with Bart's mother, Blanche Shumway. Then on to Mesa to be with the Griffins and Millers. Jeff and Marilee went to the dog races with them and while they were there someone broke into their truck and took a lot of their personal belongings. Coats, guns, even some of the kids Christmas gifts. |
