Show By Marlene Haws 826-4859 Well, Folks, it's time to get the apples picked, crank up the furnace and get ready for old man winter! The snowbirds are getting ready to flee their summer nests and make for their winter homes. Time flies when you're having fun, huh? Rolain Alvey went to Washington, Wash-ington, D.C. for two weeks with Karen Alvey of Kanab. Karen was the tour guide and needed Rolain to help her. Rolain's customers cus-tomers will be glad to have their hair dresser back again! Glenn and Fran Wilson drove Glenn's mother, Bernice Wilson, to St. George when she became ill. From there, she was taken by life flight to Salt Lake City. She must have some good doctors because she is back home and doing well. Jaycee Porter, daughter of Clint and Shanna Porter, had eye surgery in Cedar City. Grandma and grandpa Porter, Carolyn and Vergean say she is doing fine. LaVee Wiscombe, Mapleton, brought her mother, Fay Alvey home. Fay had surgery in the Utah Valley Hospital in Provo and has been convalescing at LaVee's home. She is right back, doing a lot of the things she was doing before the suigeij. At least she is attending dinner at the senior sen-ior citizen center and is able to take care of herself at home. She has a good sister-in-law, Betty R. Alvey, who picks up her mail and shops for groceries, and hopefully she will feel better this winter than she did last! Alice Ann Lyman was "taken by life flight to St. George. She was hurt quite badly when part of the haystack fell over on her while she was feeding her animals. ani-mals. She will be in the hospital a while. Hyrum and Mary Ellen Coleman Cole-man met part of their family and attended a Heaps Family Reunion in Nephi. Their children, Donna Rae Barker, Monroe; Max and Cleva Swindle, Payson; and Douglas Mclnelly, Richfield, joined them as did Mary Ellen's two sisters, Maude Spencer, Orem and Nora Youngdell, Magna. Maude's daughter, Phyllis Ann Meira, West Valley City and the former Alice Heaps, Salt Lake City, were also in attendance. atten-dance. Arnold and Deon Alvey drove the senior citizen bus to St. George with a load of seniors who needed to go for doctor and dentist den-tist appointments and shopping. The passenger list included: Velma Boulter, Sheila Woolley, Loreta Spencer, Melvin and Florence Flor-ence Alvey, Blaine Willis and Clea Woolsey all of Escalante and Ella Adair, Tropic; Margaret Braithwaite, Cannonville; and Anna Marie and Virginia Johnson, Henrieville. Clea Woolsey and Betty P. Alvey went to Kanab last week to visit their sisters Rosalie Coleman Cole-man and Ann Barnette. Clea has been going to Panguitch once a week for therapy and stopped off on her way to visit another sister, Kathy Goulding in Henrieville, who recently had surgery. Klyn Haws goes to Panguitch once a week for therapy also. Deon Alvey attended meetings in St. George and Cedar City on Wednesday. Her husband, , Arnold, Ar-nold, is camping and hunting on Boulder mountain with his two nephews, Jesse and Justin Alvey, (See ESCALANTE on page 3-A) Escalante News From Page 2-A sons of Jim and Lola Alvey, Mapleton. Our mayor, Sandie Hitchcock, has resigned. She and her family are in the process of moving to their newly acquired property outside out-side the city limits. Lenza Ray Wilson will be our acting mayor for the present time. Lenza will be moving into his new home before long, which is located at the top of the hill behind be-hind our city's water supply. What better site for him to be located as mayor. He will have a birdseye view of the whole town and can keep an eye on all of us! Good luck, Lenza! |
