Show Hatch News w By May Sawyer 735-4207 Clifton and Chad Rines of Henderson, Nev. spent the weekend here at their home. Visiting Calvin and Ruth Wilson were Ralph and Edith Marchant of Salt Lake City; Bob and Lititia Henderson of Orderville; Will and Charlptte Lane and family of Page, Ariz, were here for a week. Rick Lunt and children of Cedar City visited Garth Heap. Then Garth went to Cedar City and visited vis-ited family the latter part of the week. Merlin and Austin Barnhurst branded their herd and took them out to the ranch. A special thanks to Bob Evans and Francis Porter for dewinterizing the DUP Musuem and repairing any damage done over the winter. Merrill Burrows went up north to help daughter Miati move back home for the summer. The DUP is interested in any video happenings or interviews with long time residents of Hatch and the area. If your care to volunteer volun-teer with this effort please contact DUP Secretary Ruth Wilson. Lee and Rosemary Porter, the Travis Porter family and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Spencer of Orem were weekend visitors here at the Porter home. Saturday morning the DUP held a tree planting ceremony in honor of the Utah Centennial. Calvin Wilson, Bob Evans, Francis Porter, Cassie Mack and Shauna and Maggie Burrows all helped plant a four-foot spruce at the town park. Shirley Wilhelm offered the prayer. Captain of the DUP Ardis Evans gave the dedication. Refreshments and a tour of the museum followed. Special thanks to Ruth Wilson and M&M Market of Hatch for the refreshments re-freshments and Wal Marts in Cedar City for the donation of the tree. Maggie Burrows is sponsoring a weekly baseball game for the young people. Each Friday at 4:30 p.m. A few of the visitors for Nile Sawyer's 80th birthday party were Lynn and Jo Savage and JoLynn Savage of Georgia. They flew in and surprised Jo's dad, Nile. Also John and Linda Davis and family of Salt Lake City, Nile's brother and sisters, Leone and Veota Wooley, Orem; A. Duncan and Rhoana Findley, Kanab; Wanda Shakespear, Tropic; Clifton and Donna Sawyer, Ogden, JoAnne Goulding, Henrieville. A group of Nile's wife, Violet's family, were there but didn't catch the names. A nice crowd attended. Nile's whittling was on display. DUP elections were held with Beth Allred as captain, Ruth Wilson as secretary and other officers offi-cers will be chosen later. |
