Show Garkane Board Elections Slated RICHFIELD - The roster of candidates has been set for Garkane Power Association's director elections. elec-tions. For the first time, a primary election will be held in one of the three districts holding elections, while the other two races will go directly to a final election. The District 6 election requires a primary because four Garkane members filed for the position. Neil Foster, Bryce; Barton Palmer, Tropic; and Hugh Wilson, Hatch, have all joined incumbent William Nelson, Cannonville, in seeking the position. Primary election ballots bal-lots have been mailed to all members mem-bers living in District 6, which includes the Bryce Valley, Bryce Canyon, Hatch and Spry areas. Ballots must be received by Garkane no later than Friday, Mar. 19, at 12 noon. The two individuals individu-als receiving the greatest number of votes in the primary election will face off in the final election in April. In District 3, which represents the Bicknell, Torrey, Capitol Reef and Hanksville areas of Wayne County, incumbent Michael Blackburn, Black-burn, Bicknell, is being challenged by Lee Taft, Bicknell. Final election ballots for all three districts will be mailed on or about Apr. 1, with the election process being completed at Garkane's Annual Meeting Sessions. Ses-sions. Business sessions begin each evening even-ing at 7:30 p.m. In a related matter, a debate has arisen over full-time residency requirements re-quirements for individuals serving on Garkane's Board of Directors. The Board of Directors has received legal opinions on the matter, and has opted to have the residency issue is-sue resolved through mediation. Results of mediation are expected prior to the mailing of final election elec-tion ballots.
