Thanks to Tammy Barton for setting up a system where by the local LDS missionaries get news of each other as well as their parents knowing. Elder Eric Sawyer and Elder Dameon Julander met in Kansas. Although they are not in the same mission, they got to visit with each other. Elder Julander had a wreck on his bike and had an injured shoulder, but is doing well now. Elder Steven Fischer in Honduras Hondu-ras wrote that he loves it so much there that "if I didn't miss my family, fam-ily, my dog and my guitar, I would probably never come home.. Justin and Daisy Miller have a new baby girl. Grandparents are Melvin and Marlene Miller and Kelly and Libby Christensen. Shane Johnson, son ' of Brian Johnson, received word that he had made the Dean's List at Black Hills State University in South Dakota. Shane was praised highly for the excellence in academic accomplishment. accom-plishment. The faculty and staff of the university were most impressed with his record. Shane worked at Arby's here in Panguitch. The basement of Phil Singleton's Single-ton's home is dug and foundation work has started. The work on the Evan Boshell home is also moving right along. The older grades of the elementary elemen-tary school went to Bryce Valley for their field trip and the younger grades spent the day in play activities activi-ties here. In Panguitch 2nd LDS Ward Sacrament meeting, Wayne Ross was sustained as Ward Mission Leader. Wayne often drives the school buses to take the students to sports and other activities now that he is partly retired. The old log house next to the Rick Irish home down on the former for-mer Rulen Berrett farm is being taken down and moved to the Western West-ern Town. Chad and Michelle Black went north to accompany Michelle's sister Heather Mead and husband Cameron through the Salt Lake LDS Temple to be sealed. Alta Orton is home from two trips to Salt Lake City and also two trips to St. George. She said she saw and visited with Panguitchites Don and Alta Excell, who were visiting with their daughter in St. George. They live in Humbolt, Ariz. Alta also attended the Thomas Tho-mas Cousins Reunion in Leeds on one of her trips. Some water has been turned out of the lake into the creek so the farmers are beginning to irrigate their pastures. We are told to close our valves on our lawn water system sys-tem as the water will be turned into the city irrigation system soon. Panguitch native Janet Hatch Leatham, a business teacher at South Ogden' Junior High School since 1976, received the 1999 Western Business and Information Technology Educators "Outstanding Business Educator" at the ElementaryJunior Elemen-taryJunior High Level Award. WBlTb includes California, Washington, Wash-ington, Oregon, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, Montana, Idaho and Utah. During her teaching career at South Ogden Junior High, she has been awarded the Ogden Standard Examiner Exam-iner Apple for the Teacher Award" in 1997; The Weber School District "I Love Teaching Award" in 1998 and 1985; and the Utah Business and Computer Education Association Associa-tion (UBCEA) Distinguished Junior High Business Teacher Award in 1998. Mrs. Leatham has served on the UCBEA board as secretary and treasurer. She was recently written up in the Business Education FORUM, FO-RUM, the official publication of the National Business Education Association. She is married to Larry Leatham and has two children, chil-dren, Jennifer and Jeffrey, and two grandchildren. Janet is the daughter of the late M.V. and Cleo Hatch, and the sister of Ina Hanks and Howard Hatch of Panguitch. David and Diane Munson, son and daughter-in-law of Sharon and Mark Munson of Panguitch, are the proud parents of identical twin boys born Mar.' 10 at the Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George. Jonathan weighed in at 6 pounds and measured 17 12 inches and Matthew weighed 5 pounds 11 ounces and measured 18 12 inches. |
