In the paragraph last week in Escalante News telling about Melvin Alvey's birthday party, it stated that he turned 80. Well, in actuality he turned 90. I told him he had basked in that long enough, that the mistake had to be corrected. And he said, "Well, correct it and maybe they'll make a mistake and say I am 70! What a guy! He is a young 90! Mel Richins was in Griffin's store last Wednesday hunting for an anniversary card for wife, Vaunie. They have been married 49 years. Congratulations to them! Beryl Shurtz and Neal Liston both celebrated birthdays on Feb. 8. Beryl turned 83 and Neal 89. However, How-ever, Neal says he hopes he doesn't celebrate his 90th in the same way, because he fell and broke his hip that afternoon and had to be taken to Cedar City for surgery. Hurry and get well, Neal.
