Show Escalante News By Marlene Haws 826-4859 The family of Stanley and Neta Haycock met at Posey Lake for their annual reunion. Attending were Gordon and Almeda Haycock, Escalante; Douglas and Barbara Haycock, Las Vegas, Nev.; Woodrow Haycock, Taylorsville; Dawnetta Dunham, Tropic and Janice Reardon, Cedar City. There were 15 grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren great-grandchildren there to share the occasion. Clem and Donita Griffin also spent some time with the family and they all helped Stan and Neta celebrate their 62nd wedding anniversary which was Aug. 11. Congratulations to them! Sylvia Luker attended a family reunion of the Sam and Martha Graff family in Cannonville. Then son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Kathy Luker, Salt Lake City, spent a few days here and grandson, Raymond, stayed on for another little vacation. The Lukers also had Howard Lambson here from Ramah, Calif. Dena Hansen and Fred and Virginia Hansen, Spanish Fork, were in town. They are the mother and grandparents of Shaun Hansen, the former city marshall. Shaun lost his 48-year-old father to cancer recently and the family came to collect paintings that were on display at the Serenidad Gallery. Apparently, Rob Hansen, Shaun's father, was quite an artist. Our condolences to Shaun, who, by the way, is an officer in Moab now. Congratulations to Dana Alvey, Cedar City, daughter of Rolain Alvey, who has just been named by the state board of education to the advisory council of students with disabilities. Loreta Spencer had her family here for their yearly get-together. Keith Spencer, Denver, Colo, spent his vacation time here two weeks earlier so was unable to be here with the rest of the family. Loreta's granddaughter, Toni and husband Bill Anderson also brought their family from Ephraim. Garth and Charlotte Alvey, Ogden were here visiting Arnold and Deon Alvey, Melvin and Florence Alvey and other relatives. Garth is a son of Arnold Alvey, brother of James and Melvin Alvey. Quinn and Luella Roundy, Noel J. and Cindy Roundy and Patricia Roundy, all of Phoenix, Ariz, visited visi-ted with Starns and Fon Mecham and family. They came from Phoenix Phoe-nix for the annual Widtsoe reunion at Pine Lake. Klyn, Marlene and Brandon Haws spent three days at Pine Lake during the reunion visiting with the Roundys and other old friends and relatives. One couple who stopped by their camp happened to be Grant Twitchell's half-sister, Ida Twitchell Rassmussen and husband Floyd of Salt Lake City. She and her family were residents of Widtsoe and many will remember that Grant Twitchell once owned the store that now belongs to Gene Griffin. Heard through the grapevine that Ferrell Roundy, Taft, Calif, was in town. Just missed him in Escalante Esca-lante and again at Pine Lake. Bruce Bowmar and son Willie of Camarillo, Calif, visited with Bill and Carolyn Bowmar for a few days. They spent a couple of days at Posey Lake and also went horse back riding with Keith Carter. An open house party was held at : the Senior Citizen Center for La-! La-! Rue Spencer to honor her on her i 80th birthday. Congratulations, LaRue! All of her children were here which included Dan and Lois Spencer, Kenneth and Rita Spencer, New Mexico; the late Ron Spencer's Spen-cer's wife, Linda Spencer, West Jordan; Tom and Kathy Marshall, Colorado; Spencer and Linda Sara-legui, Sara-legui, Mesquite, Nev. and Larry and Verlayne Spencer, Brigham City. At the home of Dan and Lois Spencer were their daughters and families. Theron and Chris Jensen, Sarah Hughes, Audrey Marshall, Judy Green and 15 of their grandchildren, grand-children, all of Mesquite, Nev. Their son Jim Spencer and family, also of Mesquite, were here earlier and were not able to come back. Milan Munson, Blanding, has been married two years and is already a grandpa. Fast work, huh? His stepdaughter and husband, Stormy and Quinn Palmer, Blanding, Bland-ing, have a new little baby boy, Mikel. This also makes Nelda Munson a great-grandmother for the very first time. Congratulations to all! |
