Show County Commissioners Meet PANGUITCH Garfield County Commissioners met Monday, Mon-day, Aug. 24 for only a brief half-day half-day session to handle the most pertinent per-tinent matters before the county. County Engineer Brian Bremner informed the commissioners that he was proceeding with the Regional Water Study consultant selection. According to County ClerkAuditor Camille Moore Bremner and commissioners com-missioners met with all the local mayors some months ago to address grant moneys received for a regional water study. They determined at that time to all join forces and use one joint engineering firm to conduct con-duct the study. A number of communities had . previously used Jones & DeMille of Richfield and St. George, so Bremner inquired further among the communities for additional engineering engi-neering firm suggestions. Only three cities had responded to the inquiry so Bremner was authorized to contact each city. Commissioners were also given a brief overview of the applications received by Bremner for the position posi-tion of road departmentcommission secretary. He had conducted testing and interviews as well and gave his recommendation for Jennifer Miller (See COMMISSION Page 5-A) . COMMISSION From Front Page : tor the position. A motion was : made to hire Miller. Representative Tom Hatch appeared ap-peared before the commission to update them on the impending Sept. 1-2 Utah Legislative visit. The commission agreed to cover up to $500 in miscellaneous expenses for that visit. Jail Consultant Ken Shulzen, ; along with Jail Commander Melvin : Miller and DispatcherJailer Robert ! Harris were present before the i commission to discuss progress on the new public safety complex pro- : posal. There was discussion of other new facilities that are currently being be-ing built or have recently been completed. There was also discussion discus-sion of staffing needs for the proposed pro-posed 100-bed facility. An overview of the process to be followed was to create or access building authority, advertise request for qualifications, hire a team of planners, architects and design-build contractor, funding source exploration explora-tion and support for referendum on the November ballot and finally, schedule and hold public meetings and other public education. Attorney Wallace Lee informed the commission he had received a petition regarding property owned by a Mr. Mumford with a shed that is in hazardous condition, with a roof caved in. Because the property is located within the town limits of Hatch, Lee referred the matter to the Hatch Town Council. Garfield County was in need of a representative for the planning coordinating team for the Five County Regional Consolidated Plan. After discussion, a motion was made to appoint planning commssion secretary Jeannie Henrie to that position. i |
