Former residents Mark and Cloene Bybee of Monroe stopped to see friends and to tell everyone "hi!". They have not yet started to spend the winters at Beaver Dam, Nev. Kern Owens is with daughter Susan in Arizona for the winter. Torie Orton has been here from St. George to be with her folks Denny and Jean Owens family. Merle Stowell was happy to have Don and Tony Stowell and kids Shon, Starley, Caleb and Sarah here for a week. They also helped out with so many little jobs, thank heaven for dear ones home. We hear that Panguitch native Leona Excell Talbot isn't doing too well. Mostly suffering from age related problems, she just turned 88 on December 30 and lives in a Care Center in the Salt Lake City area. In Third Ward, Kellie Lee was called as Cub Scout Wolf leader. Donna Peterson was called to the Relief Society and LeVee Roundy to the Nursery. Visiting with Grandpa Frank Orton and other family members was Derek and Rebecca Orton Anderson. She is Bob F. Ortons daughter. Justin Talbot, son of John and Lori Talbot was ordained a Teacher in 2nd Ward. Ken and Emma Ahlstrom have returned from a visit with Ken's son Mert in Chico, Calif., Emma's daughter Barbara in Paradise, Calif; and Ken's brother Louis in Dunsmuir, Calif. They extended their visit an extra four weeks while Ken had surgery. He is doing great and both are glad to be home. Several members of the Panguitch High School Class of 1960 and their spouses got together for a party at the home of Bob and Helta Reid Green in Bountiful on Jan. 3. Those attending the party included John and Karen Cline, Boutiful; Mike and Carol Johnson Hales, Layton; Dick and Sharon Paulsen, Orem; Kay and Ann Mickelsen Richards, Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Williams, Sandy; Chad and Salley Hcnric Heaton, Hyde Park; Mike and Janice Tebbs Gottfredson, Salt I v.kc City; Don and Judy Sawyer - " 1 , .i I Shelton, Mendon; and Ken and Kenna Adair, Richfield. The Adairs won the prize for traveling the furthest to attend the reunion party. The last of the fall leaves are no longer rolling down the streets. Not that the snow is covering them, but it has just snowed enough to wet the leaves so that they are frozen to the ground. A cat or a dog now and then wanders by or a small flock of winter birds hunt under the trees for food. The fields are picked short and the farmers are hauling hay from the stacks to the cattle and fuel trucks are busy. It's winter! Trevor Frandsen, son of Elden and Jan Frandsen, is called to the Florida Tampa mission. Elder David Petersen is home from his mission and will report it on Jan. 18. His parents are Kent and Kathy Peterson. Brianne Martinez was baptized into the LDS church. Her mother is Jayleen Dickinson Martinez. Grandma here is Rena Cole. Rena says her son will return from his mission in Ireland in about four months. He is doing great. Marilyn Veater and mom Lena Miller left to spend a couple of warmer months in St. George. Shirley Chidester, Mema Mangum, and Hilda Gardner were called to teach in Panguitch LDS 3rd Ward Relief Society. Betty Brown has been back and forth to Las Vegas to help sister (See PANGUITCH On Page 3-A) Panguitch News From Page 2-A Lila Stoker, who is having medical problems. Deaths affecting town folk are Linda Vanderlitz's father in Las Vegas, Joel Van Sant, husband of the late Mary Foy. His funeral was last week. Vee Foy and Hilda Gardner are Mary's brother and sister here in Panguitch. Jay Crosby suffered a stroke and died this past week. His funeral was Jan. 8. Jay and Maxine's families were all home for the funeral services. Warren Haycock's only son was killed in a car wreck in Salt Lake City. Elsie Goulding, who is a resident at the care center, spent Christmas in Henrieville and returned again for the funeral of Thorley Johnson. Our love and thoughts are with these dear people. Lee and Julianne Mullenaux's daughter Suzanne was married to Kurtis Dunham in the Cannonville LDS Church last week. Norman and Dora Ann Henrie went to St. George to visit with Harold and Mildred Guyman. Harold isn't doing too well right now. Margaret Frandsen is home from up north where whe has knee replacement surgery. She's felling much better. Dameon Julander has been called to the Independence Missouri Lds mission. He is a son of McRae and Jean Julander. Rachel Keller has been called to served as the Assistant Nursery Leader in the Panguitch LDS 4th Ward. Speakers in meetings in the LDS Wards have been Terry Barney, Bishop Jon Torgerson, Jana Black and Greg Mack. The Primary and choir have added greatly to the programs. Travis Mullenaux was ordained a Deacon, and Jeremy Henrie was sustained as Sunday School teacher. Hope Goulding was pleasantly surprised to have a visit from a young couple whom she taught while she was on her mission. They were traveling from Iron River, Michigan to Arizona during the holidays. Panguitch High School volleyball team went to Mesquite, Nev. to play in a tournament. They won two of the games they played, but lost to a team from Alaska. The two teams that they beat were from schools with 1500 students or more. That was great playing for a scrappy team from a high school with 150 students. Good work, girls. Panguitch Main Street, Inc. is working on plans for a Quilt Walk Festival for June 12 and 13. They had a meeting on Jan. 8 to plan events and organize committees of those who were intersted in helping.
