Show By Marlene Haws 826-4859 Flint and Lora Engberg entertained enter-tained guests at their house last week: Lora's mom Delora Rutherford Ruther-ford of Maricopa, Calif., and an uncle and aunt, Dennis and Dolores Reed, from Tulsa, Okla. It was an exciting visit for Lora as her uncle is heavily into genealogy and she expects to obtain lots of information informa-tion from him. Gene and Thais Griffin received word from their daughter Melanie Johnston in Las Vegas, Nev., that she had been invited to a tennis tournament in Palm Springs, Calif., Out of 32 players, she placed third. Chip off the old block, huh, Gene? Gene and Thais took quite an exciting ride last week. First to the clinic in Panguitch. on to the hospital in Cedar City and from there to the hospital in St. George, with Gene suffering excruciating pain all the way. By the time they got to St. George, the pain had quit. So they stayed overnight and came home. Their daughter Stephanie and son-in-law Matt , Volker of St. George spent the weekend with them. Then Gene was feeling so good, he and Thais went to Mesa, Ariz., for a week. Bob and Mavis Munson had their children here for the weekend. They were here to lend moral support as their father was released from as Escalante LDS Stake President. Also released were counselors Eddy Shakespear and Lamonte Twitchell. Myron Cottam is the new stake president, with Klin Chynoweth and Reed Munson as counselors. Betty R. Alvey is a grandmother again! Johnny and Stacy Alvey, Palmdale, Calif., have a new 8 pound 8 ounce baby boy. His name is Jayce and he has five1 brothers and sisters to help welcome him into the family. Betty won't rest now until she can get down there to see him! Vema and Kathy Mclnelly hosted a birthday party for Vem's father James Mclnelly. His birthday was on the 15th. Guests were Twila Mclnelly and Hyrum and Mary Ellen Coleman. Vern also took James on a trip to Arizona to haul logs. Twila Mclnelly cooked a birthday dinner for daughter Judy Griffin whose birthday is the 9th; son Dave Mclnelly of Mesa. Ariz., whose birthday is the 7th; and grandson Adam Brooks who was born on his Aunt Judy's birthday. Other guests included Lynn Griffin, . Yoland Mclnelly, Jody and Kay Brooks and sons, Jason and Dawn ; Spencer , Kent Mcinelly, and Vela; Boulter. ; Sherrill and Mary Davis,; Rexburg, Ida., are visiting with' Twila this week before they leave! to go on an LDS mission to'. Nauvoo, 111. Barry and Celeste Bernards hosted a birthday party for Bill Kuhns last week. They didn't light any candles. Bill's wife Bev said; they couldn't get a fire permit! She'; also said they didn't start out to be' this old! Thank goodness they did.-The did.-The guest list included All and Lani Barlow, Bill and Kim Smith, Kenny and Gale Prentice, Howard-and Howard-and Sandra Miller, Sharol Bernarda and Don and Sue Mosier. J.C. and Eva Haws made an; overnight stop at the home of Dudley and Hazel Spencer. They' had been to California to see J.C.'s brother Ben Haws who is quite ill 7 Then they returned to their home inj Brigham City. - Julie Lyman drove from Oregon.-to Oregon.-to be here for the birth of her grandson, little Morgan Spencer; (named for his great-grandfather Norman Spencer Christensen). His'-mother His'-mother is Liberty Lyman; ; grandfather, Arthur Lyman; and ' great-grandmother, Ardis ' Christensen. i Lewis and Jean Griffin were in town a couple of days last week. Dave and Raylene Whitefield and family, Las Vegas, Nev., spent ; a long weekend at the home of Arnold and Deon Alvey. They spent all one day trimming trees and cleaning yards. Thanksgiving dinner was served to the senior citizens and the Sons of the Utah Pioneers last Thursday night at the Senior Citizen Center.: The center will be closed all this week.
