Show lYopic km By Louise Ott 679-8776 It was a special weekend for Duane and Carol Stewart. Son Mark Stewart and new wife Marilyn Mar-ilyn had a lovely reception. They both are working at Bryce Canyon for the summer and living there. On Sunday, Duane and Carol's their first granddaughter, daughter of Joey and Josie Stewart. She was blessed by her father and given the name Akasa Ann Stewart. Grandparents Don and Valerie Grimmer of Orem were in attendance and great-grandparents are Dean and Erma Wintch, Leona and the late Reg Stewart. Also blessed was Mary Ann Syrett by her father Brett. Her mother, Sharon, had her dressed with a lovely dress and a bonnet. Sharon had some of her family here for the occasion also. Laycee Edwards, a former teacher, was here for the wedding and reception of Mark and Marilyn. Mar-ilyn. Laycee is living in Logan. Chance Stewart had his lovely fiancee here. Sean and Kim Stewart and Trevor and Jennifer Stewart were here for the happy family get together. to-gether. From all reports, Phyllis and Max will be gaining another daughter on August 7. There are some changes in the Tropic LDS Ward: Glenna Pollock Pol-lock was released as Compassionate Compas-sionate Service leader after serving serv-ing faithfully for 14 years. Peggy Palmer and Melissa Castagnetto were called as Compassionate leaders. Released from the YW-MIA YW-MIA were Phyllis Stewart as Laurel Lau-rel leader, and Cheryl LeLevre as MIA Maid leader. Donna Fager-gren Fager-gren was called as the Laurel leader, Ellen Clarke as the MIA Maid leader. JoNeil Alvey was released as the visiting teacher instructor and called as the Primary Pri-mary pianist. Jacque Slack will be the new visiting teacher instructor. in-structor. Eva and Larvin Pollock received re-ceived word that their grandson Jeremy Reed of Bay City Mich, was injured in a car accident, but Eva said that while he is out of the hospital, he will take a long time to recover. Marie Pollock and children spent some time in Orem with her parents. Jesse Ahlstrom, son of Lori and John Ahlstrom, celebrated his third birthday in Escalante with his grandparents the Weldon Porter's. Por-ter's. Shawn and Karen have moved to Las Vegas, Nev. where Shawn is completing his study in pharmacy. There are two brothers to welcome the new baby. Visiting with Bob Joe and Randy Ott was their son Dustin, wife Cecilie, and two children Arden and Cy also their daughter, Heidi and Jeff Monson. Cecilie said they live in Hyde Park and were down for the weekend. They are also grandchildren of Jack and Mae Chynoweth and Bob and Mira Loy Ott of Cannonville. ' Wyatt Shakespear had an accident ac-cident last week, was hurt pretty bad, but is recovering nicely at home. Vicki and Arthur Syrett attended at-tended a dance recital in Cedar City where granddaughter Cambry daughter of Mike and Stacie Jensen Jen-sen was among the darling three year olds who were the high light of the event. Louise Ott was in attendance also as granddaughter Emily who tap danced. Florence Syrett and Sonie Allen Al-len took their parents Royal and Rella Alvey to Cedar City to the eye doctor. Janet Pollock accompanied ac-companied them. Verlyn Munson saw a doctor in Cedar City. T.J. and Shelia Johnson took their baby to the doctor in Cedar City. Mary Ott spent several days in the Garfield Memorial Hospital. Rose Olsen, from Orem, is visiting vis-iting her brother Wallace Ott and two sisters Agnes and Sara Little-field. Little-field. Gayle Pollock took a group of teachers on a geology trip down through Cottonwood, in the Grand I Staircase-Escalante National Monument. There were about 46 in the group. They left early Monday morning, camped Monday Mon-day night and came home to get a good night's sleep in their own beds. They left early Wednesday morning to go to the "Hole in the Rock". From all reports it was a happy and interesting trip, where they learned a lot about the area. Gayle said a couple of his colleagues col-leagues from Southern Utah University Uni-versity were with them. Teachers who attended got college credit. Dixie Shakespear met her family at Panguitch Lake for a three-day family reunion. She had prepared some slides of the family to show. Many family members were at the St. George LDS Temple for the wedding of Kara Shakespear and Shaun Kunz. Their wedding reception was held at the Carl Shakespear home. Renon Bybee and her mother Ferriland Ruesch were in Kanab visiting Bree and Kasey Ramsay. Clare and Mary Lee Ramsay were in Ticaboo on county business. busi-ness. They got home, then Mary Lee left to go to Kanab to visit daughter Brenda Shakespear. Anita Melton brought her mother Sarah Lou Sudweeks home. Two of her cousins, Kantra and Megan Perry accompanied Anita. While visiting with Dixie Shakespear the other day she said that her children gave her an answering an-swering machine for Mother's Day. Returning home one day, there was a message on it from a lady she had met in New Zealand while she was visiting Vard and Niki. She was touring the parks. Doug, Vicki, Courtney, Mike, Lesa and Elizabeth Ahlslrom all made a trip to Texas on business. Julie stayed home to take care of the business. Visiting with Earl and Jacque Slack was daughter Mandy Iver-son Iver-son from St. George. |
