Show Sixth District Court Cases PANGUITCH Judge K.L. Mclff handled several cases in Sixth Judicial District Court on Thursday, Dec. 7. Danny Pedigo, 25, Kanab and his wife, Trina Pedigo, 26, appeared to answer to secoand degree felony charges. Pedigo was charged with theft of a firearm and his wife with aiding and assisting. Both had been implicated in the theft of a 20-gauge 20-gauge shotgun on, Aug. 4 in Panguitch. The Pedigos represented themselves in court rather than have a lawyer appointed for them and waived their right to counsel. They had worked out a plea agreement with Garfield County Attorney Wallace Lee that in exchange for a plea of guilty to a reduced charge of a third degree felony attempted theft, charges would be dropped against Trina Pedigo and that upon successful completion of probation by Danny Pedigo his charge could be reduced to a misdemeanor. Pedigo entered a guilty plea and the matter was referred to Adult Probation and Parole for a presentence pre-sentence report. Sentencing in the matter is set for Feb. 1, 1996. Father and son, Arthur Paru idge (See Sixth District Court Cases On Page 2A) Sixth District Court Cases From Page 1 and Paul Partridge, both Panguitch, made initial appearances on charges of single count of theft of a calf, a third degree felony. The charges allege that the two were involved with the theft of a calf belonging to John Orton, Panguitch, on Oct. 26. The information was based on evidence provided by three law enforcement personnel and three private citizens. Both defendants appeared before the judge, with the senior Partridge indicating he would obtain counsel. Paul Partridge was queried about his financial circumstances and his ability to obtain counsel and was asked by the judge to do so. Both defendants were provided documents to take to their respective attorneys and were advised to report back with counsel on Jan. 4, 1996. Arthur Partridge who resides in Phoenix during winter months, asked that the case be postponed several months, however, the judge indicated that the case should proceed on schedule and that his attorney could seek delay before the court. Brady Houston, 19, Panguitch, also made an initial appearance. He was charged with unlawful purchase, possession or consumption of alcohol on Nov. 4, a class B misdemeanor. He was advised of his rights and chose to waive his right to counsel and proceed immediately with a plea of guilty. Houston waived the usual time allotted for sentencing and chose to proceed. Judge Mclff sentenced him to six months in jail and fined him $1,850. He stayed the jail time and all but $470 of the fine, placing Houston on 24 months probation, with no drugs or alcohol violations, subject to searches of his person and property on demand. The judge also ordered 10 hours of community service for Panguitch City to be completed by Jan. 26. He ordered Houston to serve 30 days in the county jail beginning Jan. 7, unless $20 is received by the court clerk, and each month thereafter until the entire fine of $470 is paid. Houston was also ordered to report to the Sheriffs office for fingerprinting. |
