The Mustangs held up pretty well at first, but grew wearier as the night went on. Final score: 72 - 42. Bobcats Stop Mustangs By John Yardley In their first meeting of the year, the PHS Bobcats defeated the Bryce Valley Mustangs 72-42 at Panguitch Friday night. Bryce Valley, with a team suffering from the flu, put up a good fight for a half, trailing only 30-25 at intermission. inter-mission. But, the Panguitch defense de-fense and some BV turnovers saw the Bobcats sail away to a 50-33 three-quarter lead and on to victory. Tyler Barney "lit it up" for 23 to lead PHS with a host of other players play-ers chipping in for the Bobcats. Walon Brinkcrhoff tossed down 14 and Clint Brinkcrhoff 11 for the Mustangs. Make no mistake about Bryce Valley. They have a fine young coach in Greg Hughes and some excellent talent. They will win some games in this league before be-fore the year ends. On Saturday, neither Panguitch nor Bryce Valley could win as Enterprise stopped the Mustangs 84-72 and Piute cruised past Panguitch 65-54. Clint Brinkcrhoff nailed 23 and Walon Brinkcrhoff 19 to go with Brandon Johnson's 15 for Coach Hughes' team against the Wolves. Panguitch couldn't handle the Piute press, not the T-Birds torrid first-quarter scoring and lost on the road. The Bobcats had 15 first-quarter turnovers as Piute went up 16-6 to start the game. Tyler Barney knocked down 22 to lead the PHS attack, with John Hulct and Jeremy Withers hitting 8 each. Escalante ran into the numbcr-one-ranked Wayne Badgers and fell 66-45.
